Pacers Acquire Leandro Barbosa

The Pacers and Raptors have completed a trade that will send Leandro Barbosa to Indiana in exchange for a second-round draft pick and cash considerations, both teams announced today.

While recent reports suggested the Raptors likely wouldn't make any major moves at the deadline, GM Bryan Colangelo said last month that Barbosa was drawing interest. When I examined the shooting guard as a trade candidate, I suggested that the Pacers could acquire him without compromising the team's long-term plans. Indiana has the cap space to absorb Barbosa's 2011/12 $7.6MM cap figure, and can simply let his contract expire at season's end.

Acquiring Barbosa will leave the Pacers about $6.7MM under the cap this season, taking them out of the running for players like Chris Kaman. The Raptors, meanwhile, should receive a traded player exception worth $7.6MM, which they'll have a year to use.

Marc J. Spears of Yahoo! Sports (on Twitter) first reported the deal, with TNT's David Aldridge (via Twitter), ESPN.com's Chris Broussard (via Twitter), and Mike Wells of the Indianapolis Star adding details along the way.

Raptors Waive Anthony Carter

The Raptors have waived Anthony Carter, the team announced today in a press release. The Raptors and Carter decided to part ways last week, with the club searching for a trade partner for the veteran before eventually deciding to release him.

Celtics Stand Pat At Deadline

The Celtics' Big Three will stay together for at least one more playoff run, tweets Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports. Boston has elected to stand pat at the trade deadline, says Wojnarowski.

Celtics GM Danny Ainge said earlier today that there was a 50/50 chance of the team making a trade. Ray Allen drew significant interest and inquiries on Paul Pierce picked up today, but the Celtics' asking price wasn't met for either player.

For Ainge, the next order of business could be deciding whether to explore a buyout for Jermaine O'Neal.

Warriors Acquire Hawks’ Second-Round Pick

The Hawks have agreed to send their 2012 second-round pick to the Warriors in exchange for cash, according to press releases sent out by both teams. The money will help offset the Hawks' luxury tax contributions, since the team was unable to get under the tax threshold by shedding salary today.

In addition to holding its own pick, Atlanta also possesses the Suns' second-round pick, so the lesser of the two selections will be conveyed to Golden State.

O.J. Mayo Remains In Memphis

2:05pm: The Grizzlies didn't like any of the proposed deals and decided not to move Mayo, according to Tillery (on Twitter).

1:05pm: Don't expect a Mayo trade, tweets Alex Kennedy of HoopsWorld, who hears from rival executives that the Grizzlies aren't interested in moving him.

11:34am: The Grizzlies are still "seriously considering" trades involving O.J. Mayo, reports Ronald Tillery of the Memphis Commercial Appeal (via Twitter). As recently as Saturday, we heard that Memphis was unlikely to move Mayo.

The Pacers have long had interest in Mayo, but they probably won't make a deal for him now that they've acquired Leandro Barbosa from the Raptors.

Rockets Acquire Derek Fisher

The Rockets have acquired Derek Fisher from the Lakers in exchange for Jordan Hill, according to Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle (on Twitter). Houston also receives the first-round pick in the Lakers acquired from Dallas in December's Lamar Odom trade, tweets Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports.

While the Lakers ended up moving both of their 2012 first-rounders in this trade and today's Ramon Sessions deal, they were able to upgrade their roster and improve their future cap situation. Fisher and Luke Walton were both under contract for multiple years, while Hill and Sessions could both come off the books at season's end.

The Rockets will explore a buyout, but could use the point guard depth for the time being with Kyle Lowry out, tweets Wojnarowski.

Trade Rumors: Hinrich, Pierce, Pistons, Crawford

The NBA's 2:00pm trade deadline is upon us, but teams who are close to deals could still be given a little leeway to finalize things. Here are a few of the latest rumors:

  • Kirk Hinrich will remain a Hawk through the deadline, tweets Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports.
  • The Hawks and Bobcats will stand pat, says Steve Kyler of Hoops World (Twitter link).
  • Interest in Paul Pierce picked up today, but a deal isn't likely because the Celtics' asking price is too high, tweets Chris Mannix of SI.com.
  • The Pistons received and made phone calls, but likely won't make a deadline deal, tweets Jeff Zillgitt of USA Today.
  • Joe Freeman of The Oregonian tweets that the Blazers are still working on a Jamal Crawford trade, but a deal doesn't look likely, says Alex Kennedy of HoopsWorld (via Twitter).

Blazers Don’t Find Deal For Raymond Felton

Raymond Felton won't be moved before the deadline, according to Joe Freeman of The Oregonian (via Twitter). The Blazers were pushing hard to make a deal, having called every team today, tweets Chris Haynes of CSNNW.com.

If Portland had been able to find a taker for Felton, it would've been the team's third deal of the day. They've already sent Gerald Wallace to New Jersey and Marcus Camby to Houston.

Chris Kaman Likely Staying Put

Chris Kaman will likely remain a Hornet past the trade deadline, tweets Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports.

The Celtics, Heat, and Spurs will aggressively pursue Kaman if the Hornets end up buying out his contract, but that's not a given with the league running the team, Wojnarowski adds (Twitter links).
