SEPTEMBER 5: Harrison’s deal is official, per RealGM’s NBA transactions log.
AUGUST 27: The Warriors have reached an agreement with free agent guard Andrew Harrison, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, who reports (via Twitter) that Harrison is signing a training camp contract with the team. Agent Kevin Bradbury of BDA Sports informed Wojnarowski of the deal.
Harrison, 24, has spent the last three seasons in the NBA, appearing in 145 total regular season games for the Grizzlies, Cavaliers, and Pelicans. He spent time with all three teams early in 2018/19, averaging 3.2 PPG, 1.4 APG, and 1.2 RPG in 17 contests (11.0 MPG). After being waived by New Orleans in January, he caught on with Russian club Khimki to finish the season.
A former Kentucky standout, Harrison is on track to become the 18th player under contract with the Warriors. The team is currently carrying 13 players on fully guaranteed contracts, two on non-guaranteed deals, and a pair on two-way pacts.
Because they’re right up against a hard cap, the Warriors are unlikely to retain Harrison for their regular season roster. If he doesn’t catch on with another NBA team to start the 2019/20 season, it’s possible he’ll join Golden State’s G League affiliate, the Santa Cruz Warriors.
Harrison was one of my favorite players at UK. He did solid in the beginning of his career then fell off pretty quickly, I’m glad to see that he at least got a camp deal hopefully he can make a team
Why sign him, if its very unlikely he makes the team due to cap reasons?
Try and stash him in the G League? You think he would do a year in the G League? Maybe to get notice from other NBA teams?
I mean other then your own 2-way players or NBA contract players that agree to a G league assignment all G league players are free to sign with any NBA team. I think GSW just need more players in camp for the work, and players want to go to camp with someone. If you know your best shot is a G league contract, as someone who lives about 20 min from where the SCW play, I can say you could do worse in the G league then spending your season in Santa Cruz. I would guess it is one of the more desirable destinations for open contract G league players, good coaching and a beautiful town.
Santa Cruz seems pretty expensive for players on a G league salary, no?
I agree its beautiful area.
G League guys almost live like college basketball players. Like students.
Just concentrate on playing ball getting better, eat at work, roommates, don’t spend your money, not a huge social life. Just working out and getting better. This is your one shot and you take this period of your life seriously.
G League pays for housing.
So does a college scholarship.
Worth a look because I don’t think Jacob Evans is ready for ball handling duties in the NBA.
He and his bro were beasts
