D-League Moves: Bazemore, Tyler, Melo

The Warriors have once again recalled Kent Bazemore and Jeremy Tyler from the Santa Cruz Warriors, the team announced today in a press release. Golden State has taken advantage of its nearby D-League affiliate to shuttle Bazemore and Tyler between Santa Cruz and the NBA team, as each player has already had four D-League assignments this season.
The Celtics have recalled Fab Melo from their D-League affiliate, the team announced today in a press release. Melo has spent most of the season with the Maine Red Claws, with his most recent stint having begun on December 12th. Melo, one of two players selected in the first round last June by the Celtics, had a particularly impressive pair of games for the Red Claws last week, posting a triple-double on December 22nd (15 points, 16 rebounds, 14 blocks), and then recording 32 points, nine rebounds, and nine blocks on December 26th. Melo is currently day-to-day with a mild concussion, and Chris Forsberg of ESPNBoston.com speculates that the big man was recalled to ensure that he's treated by the Celtics' training staff (Twitter link).

D-League Moves: Warriors, Wroten, Samuels

Today's D-League assignments and recalls:

Kent Bazemore and Jeremy Tyler continue to bounce back and forth between Golden State and Santa Cruz, having been re-assigned to the D-League by the Warriors. The team announced the move in a press release.
The Grizzlies have recalled Tony Wroten from their D-League affiliate, according to Ronald Tillery of the Memphis Commercial Appeal (via Twitter). The rookie guard had just been sent to the Reno Bighorns last Wednesday.
The Cavs announced that they have recalled Samardo Samuels from the D-League's Canton Charge. Samuels, who turns 24 in January, has seen time in 18 games for Cleveland so far this year.
The Mavericks announced today that they have recalled Jared Cunningham from the Texas Legends of the D-League. During his seven game stint with the Legends he averaged 18.1 points, 3.0 assists, 2.9 rebounds, and 1.0 steals in 37 minutes per contest.
The Hornets announced that they have assigned forward Darius Miller to the D-League's Iowa Energy. Miller has appeared in 23 games this season for the Hornets, averaging 2.0 points, 1.7 rebounds and 1.0 assist per game. New Orleans drafted the 6'8" Kentucky product with the 46th overall pick in the 2012 draft.

D-League Moves: Pacers, Warriors, Cavaliers

Here are Friday's D-League assignments and recalls:

Miles Plumlee is headed to the D-League, while fellow rookie Orlando Johnson has been recalled to the Pacers, the team announced. It's the third assignment to the Fort Wayne Mad Ants for Plumlee this year, who's averaged 14.4 points and 10.4 rebounds in five D-League contests so far. Johnson led the Mad Ants to victory tonight with a game-high 24 points.
The Warriors have recalled Kent Bazemore and Jeremy Tyler to the D-League after being assigned to the Santa Cruz Warriors yesterday, the team announced today in a press release. The duo combined for 49 points in Santa Cruz's 113-101 win last night.
The Cavaliers have assigned Samardo Samuels to their D-League affiliate, the team announced today in a press release. Samuels will join the Canton Charge in time for tonight's game against the Tulsa 66ers. Samuels, 23, has seen his playing time in Cleveland reduced this season, as he's averaging career-lows in MPG (10.9), PPG (3.2), and PER (6.4), among other categories.

The Pacers have re-assigned Orlando Johnson to the Fort Wayne Mad Ants, according to Mike Wells of the Indianapolis Star (via Twitter). Johnson had a brief stint in the D-League last month before he was recalled to Indiana on November 26th.
The Warriors have re-assigned Kent Bazemore and Jeremy Tyler to the D-League just three days after recalling them, the team announced today in a press release. Both players appeared briefly in Golden State's game last night against the Jazz.
Quincy Miller is heading back to the Iowa Energy for his second D-League stint of the season, the Nuggets announced today in a press release. Miller, who was originally assigned to the D-League on November 13th, has been back with the Nuggets since December 2nd. He's only appeared briefly in three games with Denver, however.
Three Thunder players are becoming increasingly familiar with the route between Oklahoma City and Tulsa. Perry Jones III, DeAndre Liggins, and Daniel Orton have been re-assigned to the Tulsa 66ers, the Thunder's D-League affiliate, the team announced today in a press release. It's the fourth D-League assignment of the season for Orton, and the third for both Jones and Liggins. Starting this season, there are no restrictions on the number of times that NBA teams are allowed to assign players to the D-League, so the Thunder have been taking full advantage of the geographical proximity of their Tulsa affiliate.

Warriors Recall Bazemore, Tyler From D-League

The Warriors have recalled a pair of players from their D-League affiliate, the team announced tonight. Kent Bazemore and Jeremy Tyler will return to the NBA club from the Santa Cruz Warriors.

Neither player has seen meaningful action for Golden State this season, though the duo hasn't spent much time in the D-League either. Having just been assigned to Santa Cruz yesterday, it was the second one-day D-League stint for Bazemore and Tyler this season.

In Santa Cruz's home debut yesterday, Tyler scored 14 points and grabbed 12 boards, while Bazemore scored 18 and had five steals.

The Celtics have recalled Kris Joseph from the Maine Red Claws, as Sportando's Emiliano Carchia notes via Twitter. Joseph's return to Boston isn't a surprise, as Chris Forsberg of ESPNBoston.com noted when he was sent down yesterday that Joseph expected to travel with the Celtics on their upcoming road trip. Joseph shot just 3-for-16 last night as the Red Claws lost to the Erie BayHawks.
The Warriors announced they have sent Kent Bazemore and Jeremy Tyler to the D-League Santa Cruz Warriors. Both were sent down for one-day stints earlier this season. Neither has seen meaningful action for Golden State this year, though Tyler started 23 games for the big club as a rookie in 2011/12. Bazemore and Tyler will be around for Santa Cruz's home debut. The D-League team, which had played as the Dakota Wizards before the Warriors purchased the club this year, played its first seven games on the road this season while its arena was under construction.
The Thunder have recalled Reggie Jackson, DeAndre Liggins and Perry Jo nes III from the D-League, according to Darnell Mayberry of The Oklahoman (Twitter link). The Thunder have shuttled all three, along with Daniel Orton and Jeremy Lamb, back and forth between Oklahoma City and the Tulsa 66ers this year. Jackson has played particularly well in his time with the 66ers, putting up 28.0 points, 8.3 assists and 7.3 rebounds per game in three D-League contests this season, including a 37-point effort last night. Liggins is averaging 11.6 PPG, 7.6 RPG and 4.8 APG in three games with Tulsa, while Jones has played four D-League contests, posting 11.5 PPG and 5.3 RPG. Only Jackson has seen significant time with the big club, logging more than 24 minutes against the Timberwolves on Thursday.

Warriors Recall Jeremy Tyler

The Warriors announced that they have recalled forward/center Jeremy Tyler from the D-League’s Santa Cruz Warriors. Tyler will return to Oakland in time for tonight’s home game versus the Magic.

Tyler had a one-day assignment with Golden State’s D-League affiliate and registered five points, six rebounds, one assist, and one steal in 29 minutes of the team’s 95-79 victory at Reno yesterday afternoon. The 21-year-old averaged 4.9 PPG with 3.3 RPG in 13.5 minutes per contest last season. This year, Tyler has seen just ten minutes of play across five games.

D-League Moves: De Colo, Miller, Tyler

In addition to the Celtics sending down Kris Joseph, three other teams announced D-League moves in quick succession, and we'll detail them here.

The Spurs assigned Nando De Colo to the Austin Toros. The rookie has appeared in 13 games for San Antonio, averaging 2.5 points on just 30% shooting in 10.4 minutes per game. The 25-year-old Frenchman logged his first NBA start Thursday as the Spurs rested their regulars against the Heat.
The Nuggets recalled Quincy Miller from the Iowa Energy after sending him down November 13th. The 6'10" Baylor product, the 38th overall pick in this year's draft, has yet to play in a game for the Nuggets this season, but posted 14.0 PPG and 10.7 RPG in 29.3 MPG in three contests for Iowa.
The Warriors assigned Jeremy Tyler to the Santa Cruz Warriors in a move first reported by Marcus Thompson II of the Bay Area News Group (Twitter link). Tyler played in 42 games, including 23 starts, as a rookie last season, but has seen just 10 minutes of burn in five games for the big club this year.

Pacific Notes: Kings, Virginia Beach, Billups

The latest update on Virginia Beach's arena proposal comes from Dale Kasler, Tony Bizjak, and Ryan Lillis of the Sacramento Bee. According to the Bee report, the arena proposal would include commitments of $150MM from the state of Virginia, $195MM from the city of Virginia Beach, and just $35MM from Comcast-Spectator. Part of that cost would be put toward relocating a professional sports team, presumably the Sacramento Kings, to Virginia Beach.

Given that the proposal calls for 90% public funding, it's already drawing opposition from some public officials, according to the Bee report — city councilman Bill DeSteph suggested that Virginia Beach "can't afford" to put $195MM into the project.

As we wait to see if Virginia Beach's arena plan continues to move forward, here are a few more notes from around the Pacific Division:

Rob McAllister of Cowbell Kingdom is skeptical that Virginia Beach is really a viable relocation option for the Kings, contending that the Maloofs are playing the city in order to boost the value of the franchise.
Chauncey Billups' return to the Clippers lineup was timely, writes Ric Bucher of 95.7 The Game, who says Billups helped quell a locker-room revolt last season and could be instrumental in convincing Chris Paul to remain long-term with the Clips.
Young Warriors players like Jeremy Tyler and Kent Bazemore could be shuttled back and forth between the NBA and the D-League this season, given the proximity of the team's Santa Cruz affiliate, writes Carl Steward of the Oakland Tribune.
Making his case for why the Lakers should trade Pau Gasol, Sean Deveney of the Sporting News writes that it's "becoming obvious that the rumor mill may know something the Lakers and Gasol don’t seem to know — he would be better off elsewhere."

Warriors Rumors: Bogut, Tyler, Bazemore, Lee

Andrew Bogut said today that he doesn't think he'll miss the season, but indicated that it could be awhile before he returns, as Carl Steward of the Bay Area News Group reports. "The season's five to six months before the playoffs, which we have a great chance of making," Bogut said. "I don't think it's going to be five to six months. I hope it won't be. It would be a massive setback if it was. I'm not going to say a month or two months or three months, but I definitely think I'll be back." His comments came in a joint press conference held by Bogut and the Warriors to confirm that the two sides are on the same page as he recovers from left ankle surgery. There's more from that press conference and other Warriors news this evening, and we'll round it up here.

Bogut explained that he's exhausting all options as he attempts to return, tweets Rusty Simmons of the San Francisco Chronicle. "I’ve almost resorted to Voodoo doctors," Bogut said. "I’ve seen everyone under the hat to try and get this ankle right."
We heard earlier this morning that the microfracture aspect of Bogut's surgery in April wasn't a major part of the procedure, but Steward notes that Bogut said today that the entire procedure significantly lengthened the recovery time for the fractured ankle, which he first hurt in January. Without the surgery, Bogut said he might have been ready in July.
Even if rookie Festus Ezeli emerges as a force inside, the Warriors aren't going to trade Bogut, tweets fellow Bay Area News Group scribe Marcus Thompson II.
Coach Mark Jackson mentioned Jeremy Tyler and Kent Bazemore by name when he spoke about the team's desire to shuttle young players back and forth between the team's D-League affiliate in Santa Cruz, as Steward also noted.
David Lee applauds the Warriors front office for acquiring Bogut last season as well as the others the team picked up during the summer, and thinks Golden State's turnover problems this season will improve as everyone on the team becomes more familiar with each other, as he tells HoopsWorld's Bill Ingram.
