Draft Updates: McDowell-White, Milton, Eubanks, Schofield, Johnson

Australian guard William McDowell-White is declaring for the 2018 NBA Draft, Jonathan Givony of ESPN writes. McDowell-White is one of the premier talents in Europe, where he 12.5 PPG, 6.9 APG, 5.1 RPG and 2.1 SPG for Baunach in Pro A Germany.

“As a competitor, I am excited to enter the NBA draft and compete at the highest level,” McDowell-White said to ESPN. “I feel like I can contribute and help an NBA team win games. After a successful season in Europe, I have gained some great experience and developed as a player.”

The 19-year-old left his native Australia for Germany after he failed to secure academic eligibility to play for Fresno State two years ago. He is considered an above average playmaker who can effectively pass the ball and also hold his own on the defensive end with his 6’5″ frame. McDowell-White is ranked as the N0. 93 prospect in the ESPN Top 100.

SMU guard Shake Milton will forgo his senior season and declare for the NBA Draft, he announced on his Twitter. Milton, 21, has averaged 18.0 PPG and 4.4 APG in 22 contests with SMU this season. We previously relayed that Milton was considering declaring for the draft without hiring an agent so he could potentially return for his senior campaign. A recent ESPN mock draft had Milton falling to the Mavericks at 36th overall.
Oregon State junior forward Drew Eubanks will forgo his senior season enter the 2018 NBA Draft and hire an agent, according to the school’s website. “I would like to thank Oregon State University for believing in me and giving me the opportunity to grow and develop, both on and off the court,” he said. “My time at Oregon State has taught me many valuable life lessons. My coaches have instilled in me the belief that anything is possible, and my teammates became the brothers I never had. Go Beavs!” In 32 games, Eubanks averaged 13.2 PPG and 6.8 RPG.
Tennessee forward Admiral Schofield will test the NBA Draft waters but will not hire an agent, per an announcement from his Twitter. Schofield, in his junior season, has averaged 13.9 PPG and 6.4 RPG in over 28 minutes per contest.
Zach Johnson from Florida Gulf Coast will also enter the NBA Draft but will not hire an agent as to not compromise his future, he announced on Twitter. In his junior season, Johnson has averaged 16.1 PPG with 3.3 RPG and 3.0 RPG in 35 games (34 starts).

SMU guard Shake Milton has decided to test the 2018 NBA draft waters, a source tells Patrick Engel of Pony Stampede. A junior, Milton would have the opportunity to return to school for his senior year if he enters the draft without hiring an agent.

Milton, who is currently ranked 34th on Jonathan Givony’s big board at ESPN.com, is coming off a strong season at SMU, averaging 18.0 PPG, 4.7 RPG, and 4.4 APG with a shooting line of .449/.434/.847. In Givony’s most recent mock draft, he has Milton coming off the board at No. 36 to the Mavericks.

UNLV center Brandon McCoy, who averaged 16.9 PPG and 10.3 RPG as a freshman and ranks 58th on ESPN’s big board, announced he’ll forgo his remaining years of NCAA eligibility to enter the draft, according to the school. “This is probably one of the toughest decisions I have ever made,” McCoy said in a statement. “I will always be a Rebel, but when weighing all the factors, with the support of my family I have decided it is in my best interest to forgo my collegiate eligibility and pursue my lifelong dream of playing in the NBA.”
The 65th-ranked prospect on ESPN’s top 100, Texas junior guard Kerwin Roach II will test the draft waters without hiring an agent, the school announced in a press release. “We want to see where I may stand in this year’s draft, but we’re also keeping all options open,” Roach said. “We want to get the most accurate feedback directly from the NBA, so we can make the best decision for my future.”
Marshall junior guard Jon Elmore and Eastern Michigan junior forward Elijah Minnie are each expected to declare for the 2018 draft without hiring an agent, reports Jeff Goodman of ESPN (Twitter links).
Washington State’s basketball program announced on Monday that junior forward Robert Franks is declaring for the NBA draft without hiring an agent. An earlier report from Shams Charania of Yahoo Sports suggested that Franks would hire an agent rather than simply testing the waters, but that hasn’t happened yet.
Lonzo Ball‘s younger brother LiAngelo Ball has declared for the 2018 NBA draft after spending the last few months playing for Lithuanian team Vytautas Prienu, agent Harrison Gaines tells Shams Charania of Yahoo Sports. The former UCLA swingman isn’t expected to be drafted.

Draft Updates: Milton, Trier, Maten, Okobo

A pair of notable NCAA underclassmen have decided to return to school for at least one more year, according to reports. Jon Rothstein of FanRag Sports tweets that SMU guard Shake Milton will stay in school for his junior year, while Arizona guard Allonzo Trier tells Jeff Goodman of ESPN.com that he’ll remain with the Wildcats for his junior season. Both players would have been candidates to be selected if they had entered the 2017 draft — they currently rank back to back at Nos. 59 and 60 on the DraftExpress big board.

Georgia power forward Yante Maten will test the draft waters, per Jeff Goodman of ESPN.com (Twitter link). Maten won’t hire an agent, so he’ll have the opportunity to withdraw from the draft by May 24 and return to Georgia for his senior year.
Elie Okobo, a combo guard from France, has declared for the 2017 NBA draft, agent Herman Manakyan tells Jonathan Givony of DraftExpress (Twitter link). Okobo’s ranks ninth on DraftExpress’ list of 1997-born international prospects.
Brandon Goodwin, a Florida Gulf Coast junior guard, has decided to enter the draft without hiring an agent, the school announced in a press release. Despite averaging 18.5 PPG for FGCU in 2016/17, Goodwin is not viewed as a top prospect by DraftExpress.
Southern Utah shooting guard Randy Onwuasor will enter his name into the draft pool without hiring an agent, according to Ryan Miller of The Spectrum. Onwuasor, who is not considered likely to be drafted, is planning to return for his senior season, Miller writes.
