Thunder Sign Justin Robinson To Second 10-Day Deal

Second-year guard Justin Robinson, whose initial 10-day contract with the Thunder expired overnight, has inked a second 10-day deal with Oklahoma City, the team announced today in a press release.

Having initially joined Oklahoma City’s roster on April 5, Robinson appeared in all six games the team played over the next 10 days, averaging 3.5 PPG and 1.3 APG on .389/.308/.600 shooting in 12.0 minutes per contest. While those numbers are pretty modest, the Thunder apparently liked what they saw from Robinson enough to keep him around for at least 10 more days.

Before arriving in OKC, Robinson played this season for the Delaware Blue Coats in the G League bubble, recording 15.5 PPG and 5.9 APG on .389/.376/.629 shooting in 13 games (31.1 MPG). The 23-year-old was a full-time starter for a Delaware squad that made it to the NBAGL Finals.

Robinson, who will earn $99,020 on his second 10-day deal with the Thunder, will fill the lone open spot on the team’s roster. So, barring any further roster moves, Oklahoma City will have a full 17-man squad for at least the next 10 days.

Once Robinson’s second 10-day contract expires, OKC will have to either let him walk or sign him for the rest of the season.

Cavs Promote Lamar Stevens To 15-Man Roster

2:52pm: The Cavaliers have officially announced Stevens’ new multiyear contract, issuing a press release to confirm the deal.

11:51am: It’ll be a four-year deal for Stevens, according to Chris Fedor of Cleveland.com (Twitter link), who says the contract won’t be guaranteed beyond this season and will include a fourth-year team option.

11:42am: The Cavaliers are signing forward Lamar Stevens to a multiyear NBA contract, reports Shams Charania of The Athletic (Twitter link). Stevens is already on Cleveland’s roster, but only on a two-way deal. His new agreement with the team will give him a spot on the 15-man squad.

A rookie out of Penn State, Stevens has appeared in 37 games so far for the Cavs, averaging 4.4 PPG and 2.5 RPG in 13.1 minutes per contest. He’s also regarded as a strong defender, having told Hoops Rumors earlier this year that one of his goals is to eventually make the NBA’s All-Defensive team.

Cleveland currently has 13 players on full-season standard contracts, with Mfiondu Kabengele on a 10-day pact, so there’s an opening on the 15-man roster for Stevens. As such, no corresponding move will be required for his promotion.

The Cavaliers still have a portion of their mid-level exception available, so they could sign Stevens to a three- or four-year contract. Once it’s official, the move will open up a two-way slot for the Cavs, who could fill that opening with a developmental player before the end of the season.

Wizards Sign Jordan Bell To 10-Day Contract

As expected, the Wizards have officially re-signed big man Jordan Bell to a 10-day contract, the team announced today in a press release.

Washington opened up a spot on its 15-man roster last week by releasing Jerome Robinson. At the time, reports indicated that the Wizards would fill that opening by bringing back Bell — nearly a week later, the deal is done.

Bell, 26, inked a 10-day contract with the Wizards in January, then played for the team’s temporary NBA G League affiliate, the Erie BayHawks, at the Walt Disney World bubble. He averaged 17.6 PPG, 9.1 RPG, and 2.1 BPG in seven NBAGL contests (27.4 MPG).

A report last month suggested the Wizards were eyeing Bell for a possible two-way deal if Garrison Mathews was promoted to the 15-man roster. But for now at least, it’ll be Bell who ends up on the 15-man squad, at least for the next 10 days.

Bell will earn $114,990 on his 10-day contract with Washington. The team will take on a $110,998 cap hit.

Grizzlies Sign Tim Frazier To 10-Day Contract

APRIL 14: The Grizzlies have officially signed Frazier to his 10-day deal, the team confirmed today in a press release.

APRIL 11: The Grizzlies are bringing back point guard Tim Frazier on a 10-day contract, his second of the 2020/21 season, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski tweets.

Memphis previously signed Frazier to a 10-day deal in January, opting not to bring the 30-year-old back on a second contract at the time. He appeared in three games during that span and logged a total of 33 minutes.

As Bobby Marks of ESPN notes (via Twitter), Frazier will be allowed to sign a third 10-day contract with Memphis if the team so chooses. The first 10-day deal he signed was completed using the team’s hardship exception and didn’t count toward the usual limit, making this a rare possibility for each side.

The deal itself is pending health and safety protocols, according to Wojnarowski, who adds that it’ll likely be finalized this week. Frazier holds past experience with the Sixers, Blazers, Pelicans, Wizards, Bucks and Pistons. He went unselected in the 2014 draft.

Memphis currently holds the eighth-best record in the West at 26-24. The franchise is looking to make the playoffs for the first time since 2017 and doesn’t have any other vacant roster spots.

Magic Waive Karim Mané

3:08pm: The Magic have made it official, announcing in a press release that they’ve waived Mané. It’s the third roster move of the day for Orlando, as the team also ended Cannady’s 10-day contract and signed Hall to a 10-day deal.

8:26am: The Magic are expected to waive rookie guard Karim Mané, who is on a two-way contract with the team, according to Roy Parry of The Orlando Sentinel (Twitter link).

Mané, who will turn 21 next month, signed a two-way contract with Orlando in November as an undrafted free agent out of Vanier College in Canada. He has appeared in just 10 games for the Magic, averaging 1.1 PPG and 1.4 RPG in 8.8 minutes per contest.

Mané saw more action in the NBA G League when he was assigned to the Walt Disney World bubble for the NBAGL’s 2020/21 season, but failed to take full advantage of the opportunity. In 15 games (22.3 MPG) with the Lakeland Magic, he recorded 5.5 PPG and 5.1 RPG with a dismal .340/.098/.364 shooting line.

According to Parry, Mané’s impending release is expected to be the first in a series of moves that will lead to Orlando signing Donta Hall to a 10-day contract.

Since Mané has been occupying a two-way contract slot and Hall will join the 15-man roster, it’s not clear what the next step is for the Magic — it’s possible the team is eyeing a two-way deal for one of its two young players currently on 10-day contracts (either Devin Cannady or Robert Franks).

Blazers Add T.J. Leaf On Two-Way Contract

APRIL 13: The signing is official, the Blazers announced in a press release.

APRIL 5: The Trail Blazers are signing forward T.J. Leaf to a two-way contract, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN (Twitter link).

Portland had an open two-way slot. Keljin Blevins is the other player signed to a two-way deal.

Leaf was waived by the Thunder prior to the season. He was acquired by Oklahoma City in an offseason trade, with the club receiving Leaf and a future second-round pick in a deal with the Pacers for Jalen Lecque.

Leaf, the 18th overall pick in the 2017 draft, failed to carve out a steady role as a rotation player during three seasons in Indiana. The former UCLA standout averaged just 3.0 PPG and 2.5 RPG in 28 games (7.9 MPG) for the Pacers in 2019/20.

Leaf had a guaranteed $4.33MM salary this season when he was waived. The 6’10” power forward is unlikely to see much action behind Robert Covington and Carmelo Anthony.

Donta Hall Signs 10-Day Contract With Magic

APRIL 13: The Magic have officially signed Hall to a 10-day contract, the team announced today in a press release. In order to create room for Hall on the 15-man roster, Orlando released Devin Cannady from his 10-day deal, which had been set to expire on Thursday night.

The Magic are also reportedly planning to waive two-way player Karim Mané, so we’ll wait to see if Cannady ends up returning to the team on a two-way contract of his own.

APRIL 9: The Magic will add big man Donta Hall to their roster on a 10-day deal, tweets Shams Charania of The Athletic.

Hall also signed a 10-day contract with the Raptors in February, but didn’t appear in any games for Toronto. He played three games for the Raptors’ G League affiliate in the Orlando “bubble,” along with nine games for G League Ignite, averaging a combined 10.2 points and 8.3 rebounds per night.

The 23-year-old had brief NBA stays last season with the Pistons, who signed him to a pair of 10-day contracts, and the Nets, who added him as a replacement player for the summer restart. Hall played nine total games as a rookie, averaging 4.3 PPG and 4.2 RPG.

Orlando has a roster opening, so it won’t have to make a move before adding Hall. He will earn $99,020 on the 10-day contract.

Thunder Sign Gabriel Deck To Multiyear Contract

APRIL 12: The Thunder’s deal with Deck was officially completed on Saturday, per NBA.com’s transactions log.

According to Schlecht (Twitter link), Deck’s new contract is actually a four-year deal worth a total of $14.5MM. However, the second and third years are non-guaranteed, and the fourth year is a team option. Only this year’s $3.87MM salary is guaranteed.

In addition to being a nice payday for Deck (he now has the third-highest ’20/21 salary among current Thunder players), that $3.87MM rest-of-season commitment helps the Thunder reach the salary floor.

As John Hollinger of The Athletic explains, it remains to be seen whether Deck will actually show enough to be a keeper beyond this season for the Thunder. But even if Oklahoma City decides to move on at season’s end, his 2021/22 salary could be partially or fully guaranteed to help accommodate a trade.

APRIL 8: Argentinian forward Gabriel Deck is expected to join the Thunder on a three-year contract, a source tells Emiliano Carchia of Sportando. Chema de Lucas first reported (via Twitter) that Deck was finalizing an agreement with Oklahoma City.

Deck, who went undrafted in 2017, would be departing top EuroLeague squad Real Madrid two weeks before the EuroLeague’s playoffs are scheduled to kick off. Oklahoma City would be his first NBA club.

Deck played for a string of Argentinian clubs before suiting up for Real Madrid in 2018. He was voted the Argentine League MVP and was named a two-time Argentine League Finals MVP.

He averaged 8.5 PPG, 3.6 RPG, 1.0 APG and 0.7 SPG in 30 games for Real Madrid this season, with a shooting line of .481/.412/.846.

Deck could help shore up an injury-ravaged Oklahoma City club. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Josh Hall, Luguentz Dort, Darius Miller, Isaiah Roby, Darius Bazley, and Mike Muscala have all been listed as absent ahead of the team’s latest contest against the Hornets.

The Thunder don’t currently have an opening on their roster, but 15th man Justin Robinson is on a 10-day deal, and it’s possible one or two other players on the roster may be expendable.

Sixers Sign Anthony Tolliver To 10-Day Contract

APRIL 12: The Sixers have officially signed Tolliver to a 10-day contract, the team announced today in a press release.

APRIL 10: The Sixers are planning to sign veteran forward Anthony Tolliver to a 10-day contract, tweets ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. Tolliver worked out for the 76ers last week, Wojnarowski adds.

Philadelphia waived Ignas Brazdeikis earlier this week to open up a spot on its 15-man roster.

Tolliver, 35, will join the 11th team of his well-traveled career which began in 2007 after he went undrafted. The Missouri native last played for Memphis during the bubble in Orlando last season.

Tolliver split the 2019/20 campaign between the Grizzlies, Kings and Blazers, appearing in 55 total games while averaging 3.6 PPG and 2.8 RPG. He’s a career 37.3% shooter from beyond the arc.

While Tolliver will not be relied on to make a major impact, he will be expected to give Philadelphia some quality minutes off the bench.

Pelicans Sign James Nunnally, Waive Will Magnay

11:35am: The Pelicans have officially signed Nunnally and cut Magnay, the team confirmed in a press release.

11:24am: The Pelicans will waive Magnay to make room for Nunnally, a source tells Will Guillory of The Athletic (Twitter link).

A 6’10” center from Australia, Magnay appeared in just one game for the Pelicans this season, going scoreless in three minutes. He also averaged 9.1 PPG, 5.4 RPG, and 1.5 BPG in 10 appearances (22.2 MPG) for the Erie BayHawks in the G League.

10:08am: The Pelicans intend to sign veteran wing James Nunnally to a two-way contract, sources tell Shams Charania of The Athletic (Twitter link).

Nunnally, 30, made his NBA debut back in the 2013/14 season, but only played in 13 contests that season, then didn’t appear in an NBA game again until ’18/19. In total, he has played in 28 regular season games for four teams, having spent most of his professional career overseas in Europe and Asia.

Most recently, Nunnally played for Fenerbahce during the 2019/20 season. While he had a limited role for the Turkish club in EuroLeague play, he continued to knock down three-pointers at a high rate (.417 3PT%), something he has done throughout his international career.

The Pelicans don’t currently have an open two-way contract slot, but have an opening on their 15-man roster, even if they re-sign Isaiah Thomas to a second 10-day contract once his first deal expires tonight.

Naji Marshall has been a rotation player for the Pelicans as of late and seems unlikely to be waived, so if the team cuts a two-way player, Will Magnay is the more likely choice. New Orleans could also promote Marshall to the standard roster to open up a two-way spot for Nunnally, though the club doesn’t have much breathing room below the luxury tax line.
