Warriors Sign Ky Bowman To Two-Way Deal

JULY 23: The Warriors have signed Bowman to a two-way contract, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic (Twitter link). Connor Letourneau of The San Francisco Chronicle had previously reported that Bowman would get a two-way deal.

JUNE 21: Undrafted Boston College point guard Ky Bowman will sign a one-year contract with the Warriors, Jordan Schultz of ESPN tweets.

It’s uncertain if the contract will be an Exhibit 10 deal, though that’s what many undrafted players receive.

Bowman, who exited college after his junior year, didn’t get picked despite averaging 19.0 PPG, 7.5 RPG, 4.0 APG and 1.4 SPG for the Eagles last season. Bowman had some big scoring outputs last season, including outings in which he poured in 44, 38 and 37 points.

He could be a developmental player for Golden State, which will be seeking guard depth. Second-unit stalwart Shaun Livingston has talked of retirement.

The Clippers were the other finalist for Bowman, who could have been drafted if he had been willing to commit to a two-way deal, according to Schultz. Bowman also tested the draft waters after his sophomore season.

Magic Sign Josh Magette To Two-Way Deal

JULY 23: The signing is official, the Magic announced.

JULY 17: Guard Josh Magette has agreed to a new contract with the Magic, tweets Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports. Magette will join the team on a two-way contract, according to Josh Robbins of The Athletic (Twitter link).

The 29-year-old guard had his only NBA experience as a two-way player with the Hawks during the 2017/18 season. He appeared in 18 games and averaged 2.6 points and 3.2 assists in 12 minutes per night.

Magette spent time this season with Cedevita Zagreb in Croatia and CB Gran Canaria in Spain. He was part of the Spurs‘ entry in the Las Vegas Summer League.

Sagaba Konate Signs With Raptors

The Raptors have signed West Virginia center Sagaba Konate, the team announced in an email. Terms of the deal were not released, but it is believed to be an Exhibit 10 contract. The release also confirms the signings of forwards Devin Robinson and Oshae Brissett.

Knee injuries limited Konate to eight games as a junior with the Mountaineers, but he was able to average 13.6 points, 8.0 rebounds and 2.8 blocks in about 24 minutes per night. He was on Toronto’s Summer League team, but didn’t see any game action.

Konate is a defensive standout who holds the school record for blocked shots in a career. He earned third team All-Big 12 honors as a sophomore along with a spot on the conference’s All-Defensive Team.

Raptors Sign Oshae Brissett To Exhibit 10 Deal

JULY 20: The Raptors have signed undrafted rookie forward Oshae Brissett, a Toronto native, to an Exhibit 10 deal, reports Blake Murphy of The Athletic. Brissett attended a pre-draft workout with the defending champions back on June 11 before playing with the Clippers during summer league.

Brissett, 21, played two seasons at Syracuse before forgoing his remaining NCAA eligibility and entering the 2019 NBA Draft. While at Syracuse, the 6’8″ Canadian averaged 13.7 PPG, 8.2 RPG, and 1.3 RPG. Brissett’s numbers fell off a little as a sophomore, but he was named to the ACC All-Freshman team alongside fellow rookie and No. 4 overall pick De’Andre Hunter in 2018.

Brissett is the second undrafted free agent to reach a deal with the Raptors this summer after former Ole Miss guard Terence Davis signed a two-year contract earlier this month. However, Brissett appears less likely than Davis to make the 15-man roster and will probably end up as an affiliate player for the Raptors 905.

Raptors Sign Devin Robinson

JULY 17: The Raptors have agreed to sign free agent wing Devin Robinson to a one-year, non-guaranteed contract, reports Blake Murphy of The Athletic (via Twitter). It’s not clear if it will be an Exhibit 10 deal, but it sounds like it could be.

Robinson spent the last two seasons on a two-way contract with the Wizards. He appeared in seven games for Washington in 2018/19, averaging 6.7 PPG and 2.9 RPG in 13.6 minutes per contest. The 24-year-old saw more frequent action for the Capital City Go-Go in the G League, recording 19.9 PPG and 8.2 RPG in 22 games (34.4 MPG) last season.

Robinson’s time in D.C. came to an abrupt end in April when he was arrested following a fight with NFL player Jalen Mills outside a Washington nightclub. The Wizards quickly announced that the former Florida Gator wouldn’t be back with the team, and he became an unrestricted free agent this offseason.

Based on the current make-up of the Raptors’ roster, Robinson will have an uphill battle to earn a spot on the regular season squad. The team is only carrying 12 players with fully guaranteed salaries, but Cameron Payne and Dewan Hernandez will have partial guarantees, and Chris Boucher and Malcolm Miller (both non-guaranteed) are also candidates to return.

Rockets Sign Ben McLemore

Ben McLemore has signed with the Rockets, general manager Daryl Morey announced on Twitter. He received a partially guaranteed two-year deal, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic (Twitter link).

McLemore, 26, has been a free agent since being waived by the Kings in February. The shooting guard spent most of his career in Sacramento after being taken with the seventh pick in the 2013 draft. He signed with the Grizzlies in 2017, but played just 56 games there before being traded back to the Kings. He appeared in just 19 games last season, averaging 3.9 PPG but shooting a career-best 41.5% from 3-point range.

The addition of McLemore gives Houston six players with partially or non-guaranteed contracts, notes ESPN’s Bobby Marks (Twitter link). The Rockets have just nine players with fully guaranteed deals, along with three Exhibit 10 contracts and both two-way slots still open.

Spurs Sign Dedric Lawson

The Spurs have reached an agreement to sign undrafted rookie Dedric Lawson, reports Jabari Young of The Athletic (Twitter link). RealGM’s log of NBA transactions confirms that the deal is official. According to Young, Lawson received an Exhibit 10 contract.

A 6’9″ forward out of Kansas, Lawson entered the 2019 draft following his junior season. In 36 games for the Jayhawks in 2018/19, he averaged a double-double, filling the stat sheet with 19.4 PPG, 10.3 RPG, 1.3 SPG, and 1.1 BPG. He also made 39.3% of his three-pointers on 2.5 attempts per game.

Lawson will join the Spurs after playing for the Warriors in this month’s Las Vegas Summer League. He recorded 6.0 PPG, 4.8 RPG, and 2.3 APG in four games (16.8 MPG) for Golden State.

San Antonio was active in free agency, reaching deals with Rudy Gay, DeMarre Carroll, and Trey Lyles. The club also signed draftees Luka Samanic, Keldon Johnson, and Quinndary Weatherspoon (two-way deal). Lawson is the Spurs’ first reported Exhibit 10 recipient.

Bucks Sign Luke Maye

The Bucks have signed Luke Maye to a one-year contract, according to RealGM’s log of official NBA transactions. Financial details aren’t known, but an Exhibit 10 deal seems likely.

A 6’8″ forward, Maye played his college ball at North Carolina, winning a national championship with the Tar Heels in 2017. He went undrafted last month after a senior season in which he averaged a double-double (14.9 PPG, 10.5 RPG) in 36 games (30.9 MPG).

Maye joined the Bucks for Summer League play this month, but struggled in limited action, averaging 3.0 PPG on 18.8% shooting (3-of-16) in three games (13.7 MPG).

Nonetheless, Milwaukee didn’t waste much time officially locking him up to a contract. If it’s an Exhibit 10 deal, the Bucks likely view Maye as a contributor for their G League affiliate, the Wisconsin Herd.

Pistons Sign Donta Hall, Todd Withers

The Pistons have signed a pair of players that were on their Summer League roster earlier this month, inking free agent forwards Donta Hall and Todd Withers to contracts, per RealGM’s official transactions log.

Exact details of Hall’s and Withers’ new deals aren’t known, but RealGM classifies them as one-year contracts. Detroit likely made use of the Exhibit 10 clause in both cases.

Hall, who went undrafted out of Alabama last month, averaging 10.5 PPG, 8.8 RPG, and 1.6 BPG in 34 games as a senior in 2018/19. In five games for the Pistons’ Summer League team in Las Vegas, he recorded 6.0 PPG, 5.4 RPG, and 2.2 BPG in just 16.8 minutes per contest.

As for Withers, he played his college ball at Queens University of Charlotte before joining the Pistons’ G League affiliate, the Grand Rapids Drive, for the 2018/19 season. The 23-year-old appeared in 48 NBAGL games last season, averaging 6.9 PPG and 5.5 RPG and earning an invite for Summer League this offseason. He played well in Vegas, averaging 10.0 PPG on 56.7% shooting in five games (18.8 MPG) for Detroit’s squad.

Neither Hall nor Withers looks like a strong bet to make the Pistons’ 15-man regular season roster for 2019/20, though both players could end up in Grand Rapids playing for the Drive.

Rockets Re-Sign Gerald Green

JULY 22: The Rockets have made it official with Green over three weeks after agreeing to terms, announcing today (via Twitter) that the swingman has officially re-signed with the club.

JUNE 30: The Rockets will re-sign free agent Gerald Green on a one-year deal, his agent, James Dunleavy, told ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski (Twitter link).

Green, 33, has spent the last two seasons with the Rockets. In 2018/19, he averaged 9.2 PPG and 2.5 RPG in 73 games (20.2 MPG), with a shooting line of .400/.354/.838. Of his 578 shot attempts, 441 came from beyond the arc.

While terms of Green’s deal aren’t yet known, he played on a minimum-salary deal last season, so another one looks like a strong possibility.

Because he’s re-signing with his current team on a one-year contract, Green will have the ability to veto any trade that involves him during the 2019/20 league year. If he approves a trade, he would lose his Bird rights for 2020.
