  • Wizards center Ian Mahinmi suffered a partially torn medial meniscus in his left knee and is expected to be sidelined for four to six weeks as a result.
  • The Spurs hired former Cavs GM Chris Grant as a team scout.
  • The Sixers promoted Ned Cohen to Vice President of Basketball Operations and Chief of Staff, as well as re-structured their analytics department, which will now be led by Vice President of Analytics and Strategy Alex Rucker, and supported by Director of Applied Analytics Dr. Lance Pearson and Sergi Oliva as Director of Basketball Analytics and Innovation.
  • The Grand Rapids Drive, the D-League affiliate of the Pistons, acquired the rights to Jordan Crawford from the Mad Ants in exchange for the No. 6 overall pick in the D-League draft.
  • Elton Brand announced his retirement.
  • The Rockets will lose starting point guard Patrick Beverley for at least three weeks as the player will undergo arthroscopic surgery on his left knee.

  • Clippers rookie Brice Johnson suffered a herniated disc in his lower back and will be out of action for an indefinite amount of time.
  • Trail Blazers big man Meyers Leonard was cleared for all practice activities.
  • Despite numerous reports relaying that the Kings are shopping Ben McLemore and Rudy Gay, team executive Vlade Divac stated that Sacramento intends to hang onto both players this season.
  • The Pistons announced that starting point guard Reggie Jackson will be out of action for six to eight weeks. Jackson has been diagnosed with a UCL strain in his right thumb and tendinosis in his left knee.
  • The NBA D-League’s draft order was announced.
  • The Hawks announced that Tiago Splitter was diagnosed with a grade 2 hamstring strain and he will be out a minimum of four weeks.
  • Pelicans big man Anthony Davis sprained his ankle and will be out of action for 10-14 days.
  • Veteran point guard Mo Williams, who remains on the Cavaliers’ roster despite indicating he would retire, underwent left knee surgery this week.
  • As the NBA and NBPA work toward finalizing a new Collective Bargaining Agreement, the league is also reportedly considering the possibility of expansion.
  • The National Basketball Players Association is reportedly monitoring the Chris Bosh situation in Miami.
  • Pistons assistant coach Tim Hardaway was suspended by the NBA for the first three games of the regular season.

  • San Antonio waived its rights to Marcus Denmon. The Spurs made the former Missouri combo guard the 59th pick in the 2012 draft. He has spent his professional career overseas and played last season in the Turkish Basketball League.
  • Wolves center Nikola Pekovic won’t play for the team this year, and may be bought out.
  • Minnesota named Andy Greer and Rick Brunson as assistant coaches, Peter Patton as shooting coach and Daisuke Yoshimoto as special assistant to the president of basketball operations. In addition, Vince Legarza was promoted to player development coach.
  • Clippers forward Paul Pierce will retire at season’s end.
  • Heat president Pat Riley said that Chris Bosh‘s career with the Heat is likely over.
  • Knicks point guard Derrick Rose remains under investigation by the LAPD.
  • Mo Williams decided to call it a career and retire.
  • Nate Reinking was named coach of the Cavaliers’ D-League affiliate in Canton.
  • Kent Lacob was named as the new GM of the Warriors‘ D-League affiliate in Santa Cruz.
  • Thunder point guard Cameron Payne suffered an acute fracture to his fifth metatarsal.

  • Heat swingman Josh Richardson suffered a partially torn MCL in his right knee and will miss six to eight weeks of action.
  • The Nuggets named Chuck Hayes as their Associate of Basketball Operations.
  • Mario Hezonja signed with Creative Artists Agency for representation.
  • The Lakers officially named Coby Karl as the coach of the L.A. D-Fenders, their D-League affiliate.
  • LeBron James, James Jones and Chris Paul were served with notices of deposition in former NBA players’ union executive director Billy Hunter’s wrongful termination lawsuit against the NBPA.
  • Mitch McGary was suspended an additional 10 games by the league for non-compliance with the NBA’s drug policy. His suspension is now 15 games.
  • The Suns hired Mehmet Okur as player development coach.
  • The Nuggets hired former Rockets assistant Chris Finch to join their coaching staff.
  • Suns forward P.J. Tucker will miss six to eight weeks after undergoing a successful microdiscectomy procedure on his lower back.
  • Nate Loenser was named the head coach of the Bulls new D-League affiliate, the Windy City Bulls.
  • The Spurs added former Pelicans head coach Monty Williams to their basketball operations staff and Landry Fields as a college scout.
  • Grizzlies center Marc Gasol, who missed the end of the 2015/16 season and the Olympics after breaking his foot in February, has been cleared to return to the court.
