JULY 22ND: The deal is official, the team announced via press release.
JULY 16TH: The Warriors and Brandon Rush have reached agreement on a two-year deal with a player option for the final season, reports Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports (Twitter links). It’ll be worth a total of $2.5MM, a source tells Shams Charania of RealGM (Twitter link), a number that Woj confirms in his full story. It would nonetheless seem logical that the precise value is $2,416,649, which would be his minimum salary for this coming season and 2015/16, since capped-out Golden State is without its biannual exception this year and already committed nearly all of its mid-level to Shaun Livingston.
Rush is coming off a two-year deal worth $8MM that he signed with the Warriors in 2012, after shooting 45.2% from three-point range off the bench in 2011/12 for Golden State. He only appeared in two games the following season, suffering a torn ACL, and the Warriors shipped him to the Jazz for this past season, a year in which he saw a career-low 11.0 minutes per game.
The Mark Bartelstein client seemed on his way out of Utah late last season, and the Jazz recently renounced his rights. Warriors GM Bob Myers spoke highly of Rush in advance of a workout he staged for multiple NBA teams, and it appears the Golden State brass saw enough to convince them to bring the 29-year-old back to the Bay.
If he can be anything he use to be with the warriors, it is probably best free agent signing other than iguodala. BRANDON RUSH IS HOME
Very happy with this pickup. Will help the bench both offensively and defensively
B rush I hope you still have that sick fade!! welcome back
Rush won’t be missed he struggled to stay on the court and when he was on the court he couldn’t make a shot if his life depended on it
rockets should of been calling this guy …
They probably were
Rockets don’t have assets to trade anymore for him. Parsons offer sheet was never matched, Asik, Lin were traded and they don’t want to get rid of Terrence Jones. If they had Parsons, they would have a better chance but maybe their best chance is to sign him outright “IF” he becomes a free agent. They did dump Asik and Lin’s contract. They didn’t match Parsons offer from Mavs. But, if the front office is smart, they’ll try to get the best possible package before the season starts.
For the price of a million a year, it’s a good risk as he will be used mainly as bench depth. It could also signal something might happen where say they include Draymond Green in a Love trade so Brandon Rush could replace that depth since Love will be playing 40+ minutes a game as long as he stays healthy. I really would’ve considered Boozer instead on the league minimum if he’s willing to come to a contender like the Dubs.
Love isn’t playing 40 minutes a game. He’s never done that and his career average is 32 mpg. Last year he averaged a perfectly reasonable 36 mpg. You can’t expect more than that from any player.
“Get back. Get back. Get back to where you once belonged.” :)
B rush is a awesome wing defender and adds shot blocking to the 2nd unit which is unusual from the 2 or 3 postion….aside from him knocking down 3’s this will also be a big help to Steph curry as well….
