The Celtics' Big Three will stay together for at least one more playoff run, tweets Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports. Boston has elected to stand pat at the trade deadline, says Wojnarowski.
Celtics GM Danny Ainge said earlier today that there was a 50/50 chance of the team making a trade. Ray Allen drew significant interest and inquiries on Paul Pierce picked up today, but the Celtics' asking price wasn't met for either player.
For Ainge, the next order of business could be deciding whether to explore a buyout for Jermaine O'Neal.
Dear Ainge, if your going to keep the big 3 at least go out and get a big man to have at least a shot at making a run in the playoffs…instead of praying for a Kaman buyout and him actually signing with us.
if Kaman gets bought out the celtics are going to have to compete with the heat they lack a true center and they will be the first to call his agent
Yeah thats why i added the “actually signing with us” part, im sure indy will be in the hunt as well as they have been eyeing him how awhile. Why would he sign with the celts when he would get just as much PT with the heat and be on a better team?
dont understand this. They could have easily moved KG, Allan, and Pierce for first round draft picks. this team is clearly hoping for Orlando, Miami, and Chicago to get knocked out in the first round to make one last push but its not going to happen. Ainge is a horrible GM ever since putting the big 3 together he has done nothing to improve the team going forward
That was dumb. You see teams trading picks for less than the big 3 so why not take some of those deals? They are old and Ainge is acting like they are in their primes
fans who know nothing!!!!
Yea enjoy paying 35 year olds 80 million the next 2 years. Their window closed last year. They dont have a shot against the top 4 in the east or west
KG and Allen are both free agents this year but yes, either should have gotten a big for a playoff push or get younger…
They should just keep Rondo and trade the big 3 for the best they can get. If its picks, then stack up on picks in a loaded draft. You get younger AND better within 2 years instead of turning expiring contracts into cap space that no big free agent will want to sign there.
Obviously there wasn’t a fair deal to be made here for the Celtics. Would have liked to move Pierce, although that would be a little painful as a long time fan. Staying with the Big 4 and hoping for a nice big on the waiver wire was probably their best and safest bet at this point.
