Earlier today, Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports reported that Dwight Howard regrets his decision to opt into the final year of his contract with the Magic, and is hoping to be traded. However, with no general manager currently in place in Orlando, the Magic's roster situation is still very much up in the air. Let's round up a few of the day's updates on Howard and the Magic….
- The Magic have yet to determine that Howard will be traded, tweets Steve Kyler of HoopsWorld, and SI.com's Sam Amick is hearing the same thing (Twitter link). In Wojnarowski's report, he wrote that the team's new GM would be given the opportunity to have input on Howard's future.
- There isn't necessarily a specific coach and GM pairing that would convince Howard to stay in Orlando, tweets Kyler, who adds that it's more about the plan for the franchise rather than the new hires themselves.
- If the Magic decide to move Howard, they could explore a draft-day deal, but a July trade is more likely, says Brian Schmitz of the Orlando Sentinel (via Twitter). Schmitz points out (via Twitter) that interested teams will likelywant to see how Howard is recovering from his back surgery before putting together a significant trade package for him.
