Clippers To Retain Neil Olshey As GM

MONDAY, 4:11pm: The agreement to keep Olshey in Los Angeles as the team's general manager is not yet finalized, according to Chris Haynes of CSNNW.com. Considering the Clippers themselves announced the agreement in principle on Friday, I'd be surprised if the deal fell apart, but nothing is officially completed yet.

FRIDAY, 7:58pm: The Clippers have announced an agreement in principle to retain Neil Olshey as General Manager and Vice President of Basketball Operations, tweets Ken Berger of CBS.  The last we heard from Olshey, he was a finalist for the vacant Blazers job.  This is good news for Tony DiLeo, Jeff Bower and David Morway, who are the three remaining candidates that Blazers' owner Paul Allen is reportedly considering.

Olshey succeeded Mike Dunleavy Sr. as the Clippers GM in March of 2010 and made an instant impact for the historically dissapointing franchise.  In 2010, Olshey oversaw the drafting of Al-Farouq Aminu and the draft day trade that netted the promising Eric Bledsoe.  Prior to this season, Olshey famously flipped Aminu, Eric Gordon, Chris Kaman and a 2012 first rounder for superstar Chris Paul.  Paul and Blake Griffin led the Clippers to the playoffs for the first time since the 2005-06 season and Olshey was considered an Executive of the Year candidate.
