Heat guard Mike Miller will meet with doctors soon to determine if his injured back needs surgery that includes a lengthy rehabilitation process, according to the Associated Press. Miller has dealt with a slew of injuries in recent years, including a foot problem that he played through this season.
Miller, 32, has three years and $18.6MM remaining on his deal with Miami. The veteran came to South Beach two years ago on a slightly back-loaded five-year, $25MM pact. Miller, of course, is coming off of a brilliant performance in last night's Game 5 as he went 7-for-8 from outside with 23 points in total.
The 2000/01 Rookie of the Year might not be the only Miami veteran to call it quits after this season. Teammate James Jones, who has also been plauged by injuries, says that he may "go out on top" after capturing a championship ring. Jones, 31, averaged 3.6 PPG for the Heat this year in 51 games.
