About two months after we first heard that new Warriors GM Bob Myers would "aggressively" try to keep restricted free agent Brandon Rush in Golden State, Myers' comments on Rush today were even more unequivocal. "We have a restricted free agent who we really like, and who we're going to keep," the GM said, according to Rusty Simmons of the San Francisco Chronicle.
Although Rush is expected to join Klay Thompson, Richard Jefferson, and Dorell Wright as options at the two and three, Myers didn't rule out targeting another veteran shooting guard — Brandon Roy.
According to Matt Steinmetz of CSNBayArea.com, Myers, who used to represent Roy as an agent, said the team could target the former Blazer, and that it would be an "easy phone call to make."
"I told [Roy] when he was amnestied, 'I hope this isn’t it for you. Make sure this isn’t it," said the Warriors GM. "He’s said publicly he wants to come back, so I’ll start to talk to him. It depends how everything goes for us and what his expectations are and all of that. But absolutely I’ll talk to him."
Myers also told reporters that the Warriors had engaged in talks in an attempt to move up in the draft as recently as Thursday, according to Simmons.
"We’ve showed that we’re not afraid to move if we like what’s presented," said Myers. "We’re open to moving the pick and we’re open to keeping the pick…. I’m not trying to be equivocal in my answer, but that’s where we are. It’s uncertain right now."
