Central Notes: Scola, Cavs, Korver, Pistons

Yesterday, the Rockets officially used their amnesty clause to release forward Luis Scola.  It's possible that the big man will clear waivers and become an unrestricted free agent, but there are interested teams out there, including one out of the Central division..

  • The Cavs certifiable interest in Scola and have been fans of his for quite some time, according to Marc Stein of ESPN.com (Twitter links).  The Cavs quietly made it known during the draft that they would listen on trade offers for Anderson Varejao and Stein (via Twitter) wonders if landing Scola would make it easier to part with the Brazilian.
  • Kyle Korver, who was shipped from the Bulls to the Hawks, says that he'll miss playing with Derrick Rose in Chicago, writes Neil Hayes of the Chicago Sun-Times.  ‘‘There’s only one Derrick Rose out there. He’s a really good guy, an incredibly hard worker, an incredible talent. I’ve said it so may times the last couple years: I’ve sat at my locker after games and said I’m so glad he’s on my team. Now he’s not on my team. Bummer,’’ Korver said.
  • The Pistons aren't in the free-agent market this summer and it would take a surprise development to get them in it, writes David Mayo of MLive.com.  Next year should be a different story, however, as the contracts of Will Bynum, Jason Maxiell, Austin Daye, and Corey Maggette all expire.
