O.J. Mayo wasn't the Suns' top target when free agency began, but he may become the team's number one priority very soon. ESPN.com's Marc Stein reports (via Twitter) that if the Hornets match the Suns' offer sheet on Eric Gordon, Phoenix is expected to aggressively court Mayo.
There seems to be little doubt that the Hornets intend to match the Suns' offer sheet and keep Gordon, as both Ric Bucher of ESPN.com and John Reid of the Times Picayune reported earlier on Tuesday. As such, the Suns figure to have a good chunk of cap space left over to use on Mayo, who is seeking a contract worth more than the mid-level exception.
The Pacers are also said to be very interested in Mayo.
Beasley and Mayo in the same locker room? No thanks
And telfair
This makes perfect sense for the Phoenix Suns. They need a consistent scorer and a guy who can score in bunches and O.J. Mayo would fill that void, and fit in Phoenix perfectly. He would no doubt start on the Suns. I don’t think O.J. wants to go to Indiana because Indiana has Paul George starting so Phoenix should be a favorite.
OJ Mayo had one incident with Tony Allen, on the bus or plane over a gambling debt, but outside of that I have not heard anything negative about him. Beasley on the other hand… Mayo would be a solid pickup for Phoenix who badly needs a SG. Much cheaper option than Gordon and he actually spends most of his time on the court rather than on the bench is street clothes.
Go get em’ Lance! We need him if there’s no Gordon.
man the sun are making some moves .. dragic, mayo, beasley, morris, gortat .. seems like they could get the 6th seed .
Beasley for Nash. Sounds real good!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What a slap in the face Steve Nash got. Not even an offer and had to beg to LET the SUNS [Sarver] go to LA so he could be with his family. NOT eben an offer!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Really!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 Seriously!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The sun the moon and the stars Lon Babby called Steve Nash. Lon Babby also said that Steve nash earned the right to retire a Phoenix Sun. So much for keeping your word lon.
we didnt trade nash for beasley……beasley is way younger…which means a long future.we got 2 first rd picks and 2 second rd picks and money..nash has 2 yrs left..we have alot of picks now and are young.the suns got the better end of the deal bro
mayo and beasley both. not a good idea. i thought this franchise was no longer intersested in these cancer type players. remember richard dumas?
does it really matter who the suns pick up. no free agents that are out there this year will make the suns any better than they were last season. what this team needs is to very bad for a couple of years and get great draft slots. rebuild and then come back stong in a couple of more season. a few bad seasons would be the best thing for them.
I know it’s hard to swollow. a string of bad years for the suns. just making the playoffs or just missing them is the worst thing that could happen to this team. they have a couple contracts that are too high for there returns…(frye, hack and childress) they need top 3 or 4 slots in the draft and better contacts for thier vets to become a good team again.
if our roster is beasley or gordon, its a win win….the suns got 2 first rd picks,2 second rd picks, and 3 mill in money..nash has 2 yrs left in him,,the suns are young and with dragic back who in my eyes improved amazingly and the young PG we got outta NC..and nowwwww the multiple draft picks, the suns are looking good
srry i meant gordon or mayo
