TUESDAY, 2:55pm: Multiple reporters, including ESPN.com's Chris Broussard (Twitter link), have confirmed that Barbosa will in fact miss the rest of the season with a torn ACL.
MONDAY, 9:34pm: After suffering a knee injury in the waning minutes of the third quarter, Celtics guard Leandro Barbosa had to be helped off of the court and was ruled out for the remainder of tonight's game against the Bobcats. Now, Kevin Garnett says that the team was informed that Barbosa will be out for the remainder of the year, tweets Gary Washburn of the Boston Globe.
Losing Barbosa for the rest of the year would be a devastating blow to the C's as he was called upon to fill the void in the backcourt after Rajon Rondo's season ending injury. Boston still has Avery Bradley to pitch in at one-guard, but they will almost certainly look for additional help now that they are paper thin at the position.
Barbosa can really score
Delonte West?
I kind of want them to be the team that gives Iverson another shot. Ridiculous scorer back in the day and obviously lost a lot of that now, but it would be cool.
That’s going to hurt with the way they’ve been playing. Just another hurdle for this veteran team to climb. Avery Bradley and Courtney Lee need to really dial it up now. It’s going to be somewhat challenging for Bradley coming off the surgery he’s still probably just feeling somewhat normal again, but we need Lee to be the guy who can bang some 3s from the outside like he did his whole career so far. Terry is going to become even more vitale also. I honestly think this team will be fine, but come playoff time Peirce, Garnett and Terry absolutely need to be fresh and healthy to even have a chance to win a series. The three oldest guys are the three most important pieces going forward. Doc is a miracle worker when it comes to keeping his vets fresh, and now it just became a little more challenging.
The CELTICS should sign me.
i’m just wondering why they haven’t applied for injury exceptions with the league yet (or why it hasn’t been reported)? now with Barbosa out too they could use that extra cap room to make something happen, maybe pick up a decent PG or a PF/C or trade for one
Another piece of bad luck for the Celtics: Not only have they had a bunch of guys go down with season-ending injuries, but all the injuries happened after January 15th, which was the deadline to apply for disabled player exceptions.

thanks for the info Luke! i completely forgot about the Jan 15 deadline. that really sucks cuz Rondo went out on in late January!
surprised it was the ACL. I have bad vision so maybe it was just me, but as someone who has torn all 3 ligaments in both knees multiple times, it looked more like he injured his Patella than the ACL. I could see how it happened though after thinking about it, but I am surprised that the ACL is all that was damaged
