Lance Stephenson will be targeted by multiple teams in the coming days, reports Sean Deveney of The Sporting News. The Hornets had their offer sheet for Gordon Hayward matched by the Jazz, and a league source tells Deveney that Charlotte’s secondary plans of upgrading their roster will bring a Stephenson pursuit to the forefront of the free agency landscape. Here’s more out of the Southeast..
- The Heat are making progress in their pursuit of Luol Deng, writes Marc Stein of ESPN.com (on Twitter). Deng doesn’t have an offer from Miami yet but expects to talk with the team today, tweets Sam Amick of USA Today.
- Meanwhile, the Hawks, who were rumored to have interest in Deng, likely won’t be making a deal with the small forward, since the two sides are a ways apart on the dollar amount of a potential contract, reveals Amick (on Twitter)
- Both Dwyane Wade and Udonis Haslem are negotiating the length and salary of deals to return to the Heat, tweets Ethan J. Skolnick of Bleacher Report. The pair are expected to remain in Miami on multi-year contracts after opting out to restructure around LeBron James, who left for Cleveland.
- The Hornets pursuit of Marvin Williams was put on hold while Charlotte waited for the Jazz to officially match their offer sheet for Hayward, reports Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports. Presumably, those negotiations will resume now that Utah has matched the Hayward deal.

well, it seems that I called it on Stephenson and the Hornets. I would assume they’re in on Deng as well. The Heat should be on Stephenson in my opinion, especially with the recent injury history and workload Deng has endured, but as long as they get one of them, I’m happy…If the Heat can come to a deal with one of them for $10-12 million, and Wade signs for $15 million, I wonder if they could make a run at Greg Monroe. If I’m Detroit, I would keep Monroe over Josh Smith, but I dont see anyone trading for Smith. Maybe the Heat can steal Monroe with a big enough offer that they cant match
Marvin Williams would be a nice fit in Charlotte now that they lost McRoberts, as he can provide much needed shooting. If they get Stephenson, he can replace the play making ability they lost
Word is Deng is wanting about 14 a year. I still don’t know what kind of bench Miami is going to have. I am still in awe that Riley gave Bosh that deal. Wade-15, Deng-14, Bosh-24…that is 53 just there.
Bosh’s Deal starts at $20 million (and he is absolutely worth it)…If Deng thinks he is getting $14 million, he must be on drugs. In this market, we’ve seen a lot of overpays though
Haha, you may be the only person I know who said they like the contract. I appreciate that coming from a Heat fan. If they don’t get Deng, it will be down to Monroe or Stephenson, basically. I agree that he should get real, but the Hawks offered 12 a year and he walked away…and not to be a homer, but Atlanta should be pretty decent. A guy like Deng on the wing would make them even more legit. Don’t forget, he also turned down a shot to play with his guys Korver and Sef in the A.
Atlanta does have a talented roster…I could repeat why Chris Bosh is easily a max player if you want, or you can find the article where he signed and see my comment there….I would think Deng/Stephenson and then Monroe/Okafor for the Heat would be the targets, and then there are some lesser tier guys that are possibilities if necessary and/or to fill out the roster
might have to work out a sign and trade for monroe.. Svg said he’s macthing any offers for monroe.. i thought the heat should have went after bledsoe
I dont see how that team can run with all 3 of Smith, Monroe, and Drummond. Smith can absolutely guard the 3, but he cant play it offensively. Their spacing is atrocious. Like I said, I would keep Monroe, but I dont know how he is planning on getting rid of Josh Smith…Does anyone know if Emeka Okafor will be ready to play this upcoming season?
i agree with everything u just said. but svg wants to keep monroe and drummond together.(kanye shrug)
not sure if there a macth but a free flowing up and down team like the suns j.smooth would fit like a glove
