2:06pm: The Knicks are trading Pablo Prigioni to the Rockets, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports (Twitter link). Isaiah Canaan is headed to New York in the deal, as Ramona Shelburne of ESPNLosAngeles.com reports (on Twitter).
I like Cannon coming to NY. He should be able to score some.
Oh no…no “Cannon” for you in NY
I’m used to disappointment, it’s ok. I remember reading the Knicks were getting Jackson and a 1st in the stump jr deal and ended up with amudson, ect. I do like cannon as a piece though.
I don’t get this deal for either team, really. Trying to figure the teams’ thinking. Was it’s main purpose just to get Houston some breathing room away from the hard cap? I guess there’d be some value to either team in Prigioni’s essentially non-guaranteed salary next year… Why didn’t Houston protect those 2nd-rounders, seems like a lot for a 40-year-old. And what’s NY’s rationale? It’s hard to argue this makes them worse for tanking if not younger, and it only increases their luxury tax bill. Huh. At least they found a use for Felton’s trade exception.
I think in Houston’s case, it was about acquiring a back up PG. The Philly trade left them in need. Prigs fills a hole.
Good point, that makes sense with Canaan being shipped out.
