The Kings made several moves to improve the team around their star center DeMarcus Cousins with an eye on making the playoffs this season. After signing a one-year, $9.5MM deal with Sacramento, Rajon Rondo will look to lead this team to the postseason, something that hasn’t been accomplished since the 2005/06 campaign. The Kings added a pair of centers with in order to aid their 27th ranked defense and added veterans Marco Belinelli and Caron Butler with the hopes of improving their outside shooting.
Sacramento also made news this summer for the rift between Cousins and coach George Karl, which caused owner Vivek Ranadive to consider firing Karl. Karl signed a four-year pact last February and he’ll be in town to at least start the second year of that pact. He’s had a history of rocky starts with franchises, as Sam Amico of Hoops Rumors detailed in his weekly column, but he has also had success at pretty much every stop in his career.
So here’s tonight’s topic: How many games will the Kings win this season and do you think they can achieve their goal of making the playoffs?
Take to the comments section below to share your thoughts and opinions on the subject. We look forward to what you have to say!
I really think that my kings can seek into the post season this year
They certainly have a chance. I wonder how their frontcourt rotation is going to unfold. Could Boogie really play that many minutes at the four?
Around thirty six, maybe forty wins. Certainly helps that Portland and Dallas and Denver fell off. But Utah and Minnesota are on the rise. OKC should be healthier. They better hope Markieff Morris sabotages the Suns.
Took Willie Cauley Stein two years to make a true impact on defense in the NCAA level because of his frame. Probably take another two years in the NBA as well.
Is George gonna let Demarcus shoot the bean?
It’s going to be one of the more intriguing dynamics to watch. Kings come to Philadelphia on Feb 10th. I’m circling that game on my calendar (assuming Karl is still there at that point).
Sixers fans are hoping Rajon Rondo suckerpunches Steph Curry from behind, putting both out for the year. Swap rights with SAC and GS.
We don’t promote player on player violence at Hoops Rumors, but Sixers fans do have incentive to root against GS and Sacramento.
I think we’re looking at a 35-to-37-win team here, which would not be a poor outcome. The West is just stacked, so even improvement that gets them within 10 games of a playoff spot is worth some level of enthusiasm and optimistic for the future. It’s nearly impossible to put it all together at once in the West without adding a superstar to the mix. DeMarcus Cousins plays on a superstar level and is only getting better, but the Kings stiil don’t have anyone who can come close to duplicating his level of production.
Who wins more games kings or jazz???
I think the Kings have more talent, but the pieces just don’t fit right in my opinion. The jazz should be able to get 40 wins, which I think is more than the Kings.
