TUESDAY, 5:01pm: The Clippers are also interested in Young, Frank Isola of The New York Daily News relays (via Twitter).
MONDAY, 8:10am: Toronto and Brooklyn are talking in “basic, non-specific terms” about Young, one source told Fred Kerber of the New York Post.
8:50pm: The Raptors are interested in Young, but have yet to make a serious offer, one source tells NetsDaily.
SUNDAY, 7:49pm: The Nets are willing to deal Brook Lopez and Thaddeus Young despite the franchise still being in the process of hiring a general manager, several league executives told Frank Isola of the New York Daily News.
One potential deal, according to Isola, involves Young being traded to the Raptors in exchange for Patrick Patterson and Delon Wright. The Raptors own the Knicks’ 2016 first round draft pick and that may be part of the package, Isola adds. It was recently reported that Nets owner Mikhail Prokhorov is not 100% committed to retaining Lopez and Young. The Raptors are reportedly looking to add a power forward and Young’s name has already been attached to Toronto in that capacity.
Lopez landed a three-year deal for the max this past summer despite his history of foot problems. His contract contains only conditional guarantees for next season and 2017/18 based on the health of his right foot. Young, a ninth-year veteran, re-signed with the Nets this past summer on a four-year, $50MM deal. Young has enjoyed a solid season and is averaging 15.1 points and 9.1 rebounds per game.
Young is a player the Nets can move, but they need to get a first-rounder in the deal.
Young for Patterson wright and raptors own first should make it a deal.
I guess you a nets fan! Thats way to much for young!
For an athletic forward who’s averaging 15 and 9 and can guard multiple positions, being traded for a below average pf, go who doesn’t have a future on the raptors and a late pick is not a lot at all, and I’m not a nets fan.
no way too much!!
no way too much!!
Young is playing well and his value will arguably never be higher. Toronto doesn’t want to add all these first rounders to a team that’s pretty good already. I could see them give up their own pick for Young, plus Patterson and Wright. Might seem like a steep price, but the Raptors have the excess draft capital to pay it.
Only contenders will buy into Young and Lopez so the draft pick compensation will be nothing compared to the years and years of damage the Nets front office caused by giving away first round picks like tic-tacs. They should look to rack up picks in 2017. They have a first then and I like that draft class much better.
Shouldn’t be too high of a pick in ’17. Celtics own right to swap.
I don’t know if the figures work out with just Patterson and Wright.
If I was the nets id try and pry Bennett and Bruno as well. I still believe Bennett has upside and Caboclo could be anything.
Essentially 3 1st rounders for Young.
Patterson, Wright, Bennett and Caboclo is severely one sided for the Nets unless they are sending back some more backup bigs. Even then, three first rounders is an insane price for Young.
