The Wizards have interest in adding Joakim Noah in free agency and it was reported on Friday that the team may be willing to offer Noah a maximum-salary contract. However, a league source tells J.Michael of Comcast Sportsnet (Twitter links) that the team will not be offering him the max, calling the rumor “absolutely ridiculous.”
Here’s more from the Eastern Conference:
- Bradley Beal will not participate in the Olympic games this summer, as he explains on his Twitter Feed. Beal only appeared in 55 games for the Wizards this past season due to an injury to his right fibula.
- The Bulls received several proposals for Jimmy Butler on draft night including the Celtics‘ package of Jae Crowder, the No. 3 pick and the No. 16 pick for the All-Star, sources tell K.C. Johnson of the Chicago Tribune.
- The Raptors had Jakob Poeltl higher on their draft board than roughly half of the prospects whom were selected ahead of him, Josh Lewenberg of TSN Sports tweets. Toronto selected Poeltl with the No.9 pick in Thursday’s draft, meaning the team presumably had the center within its top-5.
Wow. 3, 16 and Crowder? Huh. Not sure why Boston didn’t push more for Middleton and Monroe which didn’t even include the 3 supposedly.
Both of them are #3s in a bad big 3 at best. Butler is a 2. The Cs bringing in Middleton or Monroe would’ve moved the needle minimally at best especially if they were expensive to get.
Based on what we’ve heard about the Celtics and Timberwolves offers for Butler, there are multiple reasons as to why he is still a Bull. Both of those teams were apparently trying to steal him b/c both offers are well short, in my opinion.
If I were the Cs I wouldn’t feel comfortable giving up Crowder #3 #16 plus Bradley, which is what I assume would be at least the start of what the Bulls wanted. Butler is essentially Crowder but better so the team would still be built similar and idk that that pushes them into the definite #2 spot in the East. Also Crowder is being paid somewhere around $7mil a year for another 4-5 years so the Cs have flexibility with him, Bradley also has a team friendly deal over 2-3 years. Butler would undoubtedly be an upgrade over Crowder, Bradley or Jaylen Brown but to give up all 3 of them, and most likely more to match salaries, handcuffs them financially and if Butler doesn’t work out well they’re stuck.
Wiggins, Towns, and The Mall of America for Butler, Hoiberg, Paxson, Forman, Reinsdorf, and 12 Chicago style stuffed pizzas. Seven pizzas should get it done, but this makes the trade irresistible.

Sixers need to throw some money at Beal. Even at a 75% playing rate he is still better than most guards coming available in the next 2 seasons.
Beal is not going any where wizards have all ready said given him max contract so need to move on
