There is mutual interest between the Nets and former overall top draft pick Anthony Bennett, tweets Michael Scotto of Sheridan Hoops. Bennett, who was part of the Canadian team in the Olympic qualifying tournament, has bounced around the league since the Cavaliers selected him No. 1 in the 2013 draft.
The 23-year-old power forward played briefly for Toronto this season, averaging 1.5 points and 1.2 rebounds in 19 games. He also spent a year in Minnesota after being traded there as part of the deal that brought Kevin Love to Cleveland.
Bennett was invited to Brooklyn’s mini-camp for free agents in late May and seemingly made a positive impression.
All of these rumored nets signing are making me giddy to see what top three pick the Celtics swap for
Wish the Pistons would’ve reached out to him earlier
Nets try their hardest to get the players they wanted . I guess they have to go with plan b. Plan b might not be bad it save them money for future free agent
This is a joke right? Anthony Bennett? Tony Bennett can both sing and play better than Anthony! How awful are the Nets? Can they possibly win 15 games? Make that 10 games!
He has talent, size and a wing span, but no confidence.
I’d take a look at him, what can it hurt? He certainly won’t cost much. It is funny though that the Cavs thought he was worth the #1 overall pick. What a horrific mistake that was. Then LeBron came home to become GM/Head Coach/Player and turned them around.
The thing was that Bennett’s draft (2013) had no clear cut #1 pick at the time. In hindsight, Giannis Antetokounmpo would probably go first overall but as an international player I don’t think he would’ve gone #1 at the time so you’re probably looking at Oladipo or maybe McCollum. That draft had no clear cut guy that should have definetly gone #1.
It’s funny how every now and then you get a draft with so little talent in the mix. 2013 certainly seems to be one of them. Another reason to be weary of a rebuilding approach based entirely on stockpiling draft picks. You can end up with a dud draft pool.
HAHAHAHA. That’s a fit, the Nets and Bennet. Two losers
Did Bennett sing he left his game (and heart) in San Francisco? Maybe he can sing the National Anthem before the game? He’s certainly proven he has no heart and no game! His signing has to be a joke. Right?
