In a statement that may make some Mavericks fans scoff, Chandler Parsons told the media during his introductory press conference today that he wants to be active in attracting free agents to the Grizzlies, The Associated Press relays. “Being the first big-name free agent to come here, I think that’s special, and I want to be a trendsetter here,” Parsons said. “I’m going to work extremely hard to be the best basketball player I can be. But … next summer you best believe I’m going to be with him [GM Chris Wallace] recruiting more talent to Memphis.”
“Just looking at this core and what they’ve established here over the years, like I said, I wanted to be a part of that,” Parsons continued. “I think my game, my style of play fits perfectly with what they’re doing here.” Here’s more from out West:
- Rudy Gay has requested that the Kings trade him this offseason and the team is trying to find a taker, but are not interested in a potential deal with the Pacers for Monta Ellis, Ailene Voisin of The Sacramento Bee tweets. Sacramento is also potentially looking to trade Kosta Koufos and Ben McLemore, Marc Stein of ESPN relays (via Twitter).
- The Mavericks sent $3.2MM in cash to the Pacers as a part of the Jeremy Evans trade, Eric Pincus of Basketball Insiders relays (on Twitter).
- The Clippers viewed former Knicks big man Kevin Seraphin as an alternative if an affordable deal could not be worked out with Marreese Speights, who agreed to a contract with Los Angeles earlier today, Michael Scotto of Sheridan Hoops relays (via Twitter).
- The Lakers will receive the Nuggets’ 2018 second round pick and the Bulls’ 2019 second-rounder as part of the trade to acquire Jose Calderon, Pincus tweets. Neither selection comes with any protections attached, Pincus adds.
Chandler Parsons is delusional if he thinks he’s a big name.
I was thinking the same thing. When is the last time he played a full season?
I can’t stand him because he talks
Overrated
Big name? Medium name at a stretch.
Big Name Chandler?
Are Warriors in serious rebuild mode–no Barbosa, no Speights. no Barnes, no Bogut, no Festus,
Yes they are in rebuild mode, because that’s what happens when you sign one of the top 3 players in the league to play with the league MVP, an all NBA Second Team and an All-NBA Third Team winner.
A starting line-up of Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Andre Iguodala (?), Kevin Durant & Draymond Green, with David West and Zaur Pachulia off the bench (And there’s more signings on the way) I don’t think qualifies as rebuilding.
There is a thing called a salary cap. They obviously can’t sign quality bench players (unless they’re willing to take the minimum) when you have multiple guys earning close to their max (Green and Durant) and another guy who is going to need a max next year (Curry).
I think he was trolling.
Shouldn’t the Bulls be getting those Picks.
No Bulls were trying to shed salary so had to give up picks to get Calderon off the books
when parsons was with the rockets and as a rookie i was a fan but after his second season he started doing these contests on the radio were a fan (would win a dinner and limo ride with him) the winner was always female and to be he just seems like a d-bag and he likes to brag that he recruited howard to the rockets but it was really mchale and hakeen who sold dwight on houston. the grizz over paid and they will win 50 games next season and exit in the first round per typical grizz they would of been better going after going after crabbe or deng and seth curry or tyler johnson instead of giving all that money only to parsons.
Gosh, what an idiot. Why would he pick a girl for the limo/dinner instead of a guy? What a d-bag.
Dirk didn’t want him back and that’s all it took. He’s a conceited guy that can’t stay healthy. His act will annoy the Grizzlies fan early on.
Rudy Gay to the Celtics?
