Rookie forward Ben Bentil, who was waived by the Celtics on Friday, has an offer to join the Pacers’ D-League affiliate in Fort Wayne, tweets freelancer and Hoops Rumors contributor Mark Porcaro.
The 6’9″ Bentil was taken 51st overall out of Providence in this year’s draft. He appeared in three preseason games for Boston, averaging 5.0 points and 4.3 rebounds.
Bentil is on waivers, so he could be claimed by the Pacers or any other team. He reportedly will look for an opportunity with another franchise if he isn’t claimed and is not interested in rejoining the Celtics as part of their D-League affiliate. Boston signed Bentil to a three-year contract with a $250K guarantee.
Danny under estimated bentil he progressed at providence like he will in the nba unlike young and others. He had a better yr then dunn last yr in college i am a pc fan i watched him carry that team most of the yr
While I don’t doubt Bentil’s ability, I’m sure Dunn’s presence helped pad Bentil’s stats. I have doubts as to whether Bentil’s numbers in his final year would’ve been as good as they were if Dunn wasn’t there to at least draw most of the attention.
I dont understand what the Celtics are thinking. Rj hunter and young have had long enough to show that they dont really belong…and Boston always needs help upfront. I think this will come back to bite them in the ass. Bentil will do really good for some team out there …, he is so fast for a PF .
