Free agent addition Jared Sullinger will play his first game for the Raptors tonight in Philadelphia, according to Raptors Media Relations (Twitter link). His minutes will be limited as he works his way back from foot surgery.
After four seasons in Boston, Sullinger signed a one-year, $5.628MM deal with Toronto in July. He was expected to be the team’s starting power forward, but had to undergo surgery on his left foot in October after it was stepped on in the Raptors’ first preseason game.
The 21st pick in the 2012 draft, Sullinger worked his way up to starter status with the Celtics. He averaged 10.3 points and 8.3 rebounds in 81 games last season.
As a Celtics fan I miss this guy. He’s a good player and a great person. I’m sure Toronto fans will come to love him just as I did.
Celtics miss his rebounding A LOT!
Really excited to see him back on the court and see what kinda impact he makes. Raps needed help at PF and they’re getting it right here. Hopefully Sully isn’t too overweight and can still shoot and rebound
Man was he ever slow last night. I hope he gets in game shape fast because he was sloppy trying to catch up to people. Not to mention frustrated, when you are trying to catch up stopping to complain that you were fouled to the refs puts you two steps behind. He got too much court time last night and it was costly against a team the Raps should have walked over.
On the plus. Come playoff time when the refs put the whistles away he could be a beast.
