Luol Deng suffered a sprained wrist against the Pistons on Sunday and the team announced that injury will keep him out indefinitely, as Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times relays. Deng’s X-rays came back negative, but DiGiovanna notes that the small forward was seen with his right hand in a heavy bandage.
Deng missed one game earlier in the season because of tendinitis in his right bicep. He also sat out another game to rest.
The 31-year-old signed a four-year, $72MM deal with the Lakers and he’s the team’s highest paid player. He’s averaging 8.1 points, 5.8 rebounds and 1.0 steals in 27.6 minutes per game this season.
Horrible signing. We screwed our selves with his and mozgovs contract. I would try to trade Clarkson for Noel since clarkson hasn’t improved this season and Noel gives us an athletic rim protecting big. We 2 games back of being the worst in the west, I don’t mind if we tank at this point to keep our top 3 pick and drafting someone like Lonzo Ball.
Who would you rather have Nerleans Noel Ibica Zubac. Keep watching this kid he is going to be great. He will be a starting caliber center. We are going to groom him, develop him, mold him to what we need and he will be our starter in 3 years. Mozgov is their to give him veteran leadership and to be our current starting center and for a starting center that’s how much you got to pay in today’s time.
Now the Deng signing hasnt really worked out. That is a bad deal. Too long.
Yeah Lakers really screwed themselves with those two signings. They won’t see the Finals till those contracts expire.
The two BIG contract were real bad trade D’Angelo and Clarkson I do not like there play for the Lakers we can better
I’m a Sixers fan, not the Lakers. Still, I’m curious as to who Lakers fans think they are missing out on in this summer’s free agency period: Alex Len? Kelly Olynyk?
Those deals for Mozgov and Mahinmi and Biyombo were market value. Fans have to come to terms with the NBA’s finances.
Options.. a better option could become available at a different position that might actually help the team in some way!
EXACTLY! That contract Mozgov got was going to go to somebody. Biyombo, Mahinmi, or any other center that were signed this off season have been no better than Mozgov this year. Like it or not it’s what a starting center in the NBA is making today.
^ I would’ve not signed massive mediocre contracts for that long. They hurt long term. Sign them at that value for 1 year w/ Team option or sign cheaper veterans and build/develop core.
Not even a Lakers fan.
(Lakers fan) The contracts don’t hurt the lakers that bad because they won’t really be competitive until they expire anyways. They are helping developing the young talent and teaching them how to be pros. They have to meet the minimum salary anyways.
I don’t see why all the deng hate is there. The lakers just invested in a very young, raw small forward. Acquiring deng to be a mentor for said small forward( Brandon Ingram obviously) was a great move. Deng did in Chicago with Jimmy butler and Jimmy is now a top 10 player in the NBA. The mozgov signing was not good in my opinion but the deng is serving a valuable role. The lakers don’t need to take anymore. They have enough young pieces ( russel clarkson randle nance Ingram ) that can become excellent players. Ingram is not ready and putting the burden on him to be the next Kevin Durant would be to much. Having Ingram on the bench and having deng mentor him was a great move for the lakers front office to do
