The Suns would like to package their young players and draft picks in order to bring a star to Phoenix, Alex Kennedy of HoopsHype writes. Executives around the league tell Kennedy that they expect the Suns to continue their rebuild and trade away some of their veterans should they not be able to land a star player.
Here’s more from Kennedy’s piece:
- The Kings have made several players available, including Darren Collison. The point guard, who will be a free agent after the season, has seen an expanded role on the team since Rudy Gay injured his Achilles, as I wrote in this week’s Fantasy Hoops.
- It’s unclear whether the Thunder will be buyers or sellers at the deadline, but they are expected to be active. “They will do something, one way or the other. They won’t stand pat,” one anonymous GM told Kennedy.
- The Pacers are willing to trade anyone on the roster with the exception being Paul George, Kennedy reports.
- The Carmelo Anthony-to-Cleveland trade talks were “overblown,” Kennedy adds. The Cavs are still looking for outside help, as they are reportedly in trade discussions with several teams.
- Anthony Davis isn’t going anywhere and Jrue Holiday is unlikely to be traded, but anyone else on the Pelicans‘ roster is on the table in trade talks, according to Kennedy.
- Serge Ibaka was traded to the Raptors earlier today and a source tells Kennedy that Toronto was his preferred destination.
Would love to see OKC get Wilson Chandler.
He would be amazing but Gallinari would be better, Westbrook needs shooters.
Chandler isn’t a horrible shooter. I like his contract too, compared to Gallinari hitting free agency after this season.
Reading that blurb about the Suns makes me think that they probably wish they had a player like Isaiah Thomas….
Isaiah Thomas may be the better player, but Suns can be pretty content with Bledsoe/Booker backcourt, especially considering if they kept Thomas they probably could not have gotten Bender and/or Chriss.
They should be in on Boogie
Cousins is going nowhere, stop it.
lol
Does anyone offer better than:
Sixers get PG13
Pacers get Okafor, Sixers 2017, Lakers 2018
Celtics would have to give up at least 3 players to make a trade even happen. Plus the Brooklyn pick.
That will never happen lmao. I wouldn’t accept that trade as the Pacers. Hell no. Terrible. Nope.
PG is unavailable, period.
Players are always “unavailable” until they are. 2 likely top-5 picks in consecutive years + a scoring big. I think that’s a good conversation starter.
Just like Jimmy Butler and Cousins are “unavailable” lmfao.
Pacers have some decisions to make. Dumping Ellis and Jefferson next season? Do they give big money to Teague and/or what if he doesn’t come back he is a UFA?
PG13 should be available. He went 4-19 last night. Over-rated and not good in clutch. He no longer plays lock down D!
Okafor has no value. They already have an older version of him in Al Jefferson. Sixers want PG? That conversation starts at either Simmons or Embiid, or more than two first round picks. Two likely top 5 picks and a big who can’t play defense and needs to play the 5 (which won’t happen with Turner there, who is already better than Okafor) to be effective isn’t that valuable. Not that I would want PG to be traded, but I’d rather go to the Celtics and take both Brooklyn picks (likely a top 2 pick this year and a top 5 next year) plus Crowder/Brown, Smart, and Yabusele. Now if the Sixers want to take Ellis, then that deal becomes more appealing, but PG for two first rounders and Okafor is not nearly enough value.
WHY would George go to Philly? I highly doubt he would go there, he would leave the moment he becomes a free agent guaranteed. Sixers just need to worry about getting Embiid and Simmons ready for next season and try and bring in a shooting guard from the draft, Malik Monk would be perfect.
PG13 does not have a no trade clause. He’d give up more $ if he left after being traded. If Embiid plays the majority of the next 2 seasons without a minutes restriction he’ll be the top Center in the game. He’s already top-3 playing 25 MPG. Simmons is an unknown at this point though. Unless the Pacers get another star player, they have no title contention hopes. If you add a player like PG13 to the Sixer’s roster, I think they’d be top 3 in the East.
They already have Simmons to plug in at the 3-4 plus Saric has been a huge reason they are like 4-5 games back from the 8th spot out East. Give Myles Turner another year and George will have absolutely no reason to leave Indiana. And yes Teague should get the money, the Pacers hopes rely on how goos Myles Turner will become really. Larry will throw big money at George he wont turn down, forget about Paul george leaving Indiana.
The Kings should keep Cousins and extend him now, hes been amazing and has kept the Kings competitive despite the subpar roster. Keep McLemore and Collison in the backcourt and just try and sign Mirotic and Gallinari and plug them at the 3-4.
Collison-McLemore-Gallinari-Mirotic-Cousins
Cousins has 4 shooters to play with and of course Joerger will get the best out of all 5 defensively.
McLemore is a bust. Nothing more than a bench player.
Have you not been watching him lately? The kid is starting to come around, patience is key.
Suns need to be patient. Trading away pieces for a star mid-rebuild is how you end up looking like OKC, Toronto, Portland, etc… that are too good to add talent via draft but too bad to win a ring.
Build and develop a great core first and then sign some FAs. No need to trade anyone.
OKC with Wilson Chandler or Danilo Gallinari, a healthy Kanter, Roberson, Oladipo, Adams, and WESTBROOK would have a chance at the Finals, Russ is that good, he’s like Larry Bird and Lebron, they pick you apart in all facets of the game thats why guys like Wiggins and Melo are not box office because all they do is score and nothing else.
