The Sixers are wary of bringing Ben Simmons back prematurely from his Jones fracture, as coach Brett Brown‘s latest update indicates. According to Bob Cooney of the Daily News, Simmons won’t be participating in simulated 5-on-5 competition throughout the All-Star break. Simmons is progressing, Brown told Cooney, albeit at the team’s “slow” pace.
Cooney’s report throws cold water on previous rumors that Simmons would be able to play after the All-Star break. Simmons was able to participate in drills running at “80%” in early January, according to Keith Pompey of the Philadelphia Inquirer, though the team never issued a formal timeline of the No. 1 pick’s recovery.
Considering the Sixers are out of the playoff picture – trailing the Eastern Conference’s eight-seed by 5.5 games – it’s worth wondering when or if the team will shut down Simmons for the season.
Smart there’s no rush, it’s not like you’re in the finals wait til next season if you need to.
Might as well, not worth the risk, the team is still 2 guards away from playoff contention and the draft pick should (once again) be the focus. Especially considering Lakers lose their outside of top 3, Sixers gotta make sure they do their part to bump Lakers out
And the nets are doing their part, so just one other team would do.
Yup, could be Suns, could be T-Wolves now that they lost Lavine too
Sorry, but I don’t trust the process anymore. Losing is accepted to easily in this organization. Their star players who is supposed to be injured is out dancing?
Get off my lawn.

Multiple teams are in all-out “secret” tank mode. Phoenix, Lakers, Magic. Like someone said above… Sixers need to keep losing games, in an effort to convert the Laker’s pick this season. The Kings have won 3 games in a row, they aren’t trading Boogie, and thus not tanking to protect their pick.
If they get a top 3 pick, they have a shot at Fultz, Ball, or Smith. And if they get the Laker’s pick, they can get Monk/Jackson. That is best case scenario. Worst case.. they just come away with Monk/Jackson.
It’s really a PG or bust year for them.
Trade Ersan, Trade Noel, Trade Rodriguez. Trade Okafor on draft day to move up or continue to keep him as Embiid insurance.
They aren’t going to land any of the RFA’s or top players with Player Options in FA. And do you really want them to commit big money to a fragile Jrue? or a 28 yo Teague? Maybe take a flier on Donatas Motiejunas.
Lakers will get their pick regardless the lottery is rigged.
I thought the sixers have an opportunity to swap picks with Sacramento this upcoming draft. Is the lakers pick that they owe us protected, and to what extent,
The Sixers can swap with the Kings if Sacramento’s pick is in the top 10 (otherwise Bulls get it). Sixers will get Lakers pick if it falls outside the top 3.
Yea and currently, neither will convert.
