Whether it’s via trade or free agency, the Hawks are planning to add a third point guard to their roster, head coach Mike Budenholzer said today (Twitter link via Chris Vivlamore of The Atlanta Journal Constitution). Dennis Schroder has had a very solid season in Atlanta, but Malcolm Delaney has been up and down as his backup, and the team doesn’t really have additional depth at the position.
Here’s more from around the Eastern Conference:
- On The Vertical’s live trade deadline show, Adrian Wojnarowski suggested that one reason the Celtics and Bulls haven’t moved forward in Jimmy Butler talks is because the Bulls would want at least a couple players capable of joining their rotation immediately, and Boston is more interested in using draft picks in a potential package.
- The Knicks have yet to budge on their insistence that the Timberwolves add an additional player or draft pick to a Ricky Rubio/Derrick Rose swap, according to Ian Begley of ESPN.com. As Begley notes, it’ll be interesting to see if either side budges before the deadline.
- J. Michael of CSNMidAtlantic.com takes a closer look at why the Wizards targeted Bojan Bogdanovic and were willing to give up a first-round pick for him.
heres to having no faith in garpax.
Celtics should grab Paul George for 2 playoff runs and try to resign him after his contract expires
Why are the Knicks being so picky? I think if any team should be asked for more in return it should be Minnesota. I think Rubio is a good fit for the Knicks and Rose is on an expiring contract, compared to Rubio who is under contract for a few more years.
*should be asking for more in return
Well the wolves are trying to clear space and get out from under rubio’s contract so they want Rose more for his expiring deal than his on-court abilities. And that may be more valuable to them so the Knicks are smart to at least try to get more
Every time the Knicks wanted to clear salary cap space in the past, they had to give up picks and players to do so. They absolutely should demand assets in addition to Rubio if they’re giving up that big of an expiring deal.
Celtics should have offered Crowder, Rozier, Zeller, Bklyn18 and another first for butler..
Then get Bogut from stinxers for a 2nd or wait for the buyout..
Danny Ainge is ruining the Celtics, you got a guard in his prime averaging close to 30 ppg with another star level big in Horford. Whats his plan hold on to his dearly picks to draft Fultz or Ball who are point guards, give me Thomas long term because he is already proven and on his way to becoming an all time great barring injury. Seriously if this team was stripped of talent by all means keep the picks but with a chance to get an established player like a Jimmy Butler they refuse to give up Crowder? Ainge is smoking some good stuff
I like IT game, rather shift him over to the 2 or move Fultz to the 2..
You just don’t pass on the potential talent that Fultz could bring.. especially when PG could walk after next year…
IT is too small to play the 2. And yes, PG could walk…but so could IT and Bradley and Smart…
Yes just trade the pick. Literally the best situation is the draft pick ends up as good as Paul George, so just get Paul George for real
Pretty disappointing on the trade front so far. Nothing exciting other than Boogie.
Rose realistically fits on no NBA team anymore, maybe Pop can make him an all-star again but idk.
