Wilson Chandler and Nuggets head coach Michael Malone addressed recent trade rumors, offering different takes on Chandler’s status in Denver.
“I laugh at that report, because Wilson Chandler is having a career year. So if a guy is not happy with his role when he’s having a career year, that doesn’t add up to me,” Malone said, per ESPN. “Obviously, there’s a lot of noise. Not just Wilson — different things this time of year for all NBA teams. The trade deadline is right around the corner. I think agents are behind a lot of that stuff, but Wilson has never said anything close to that.”
Chandler was hardly dismissive of trade rumors when speaking with Chris Dempsey of the Denver Post, however.
“I would definitely like to be in something more consistent. I wouldn’t say unhappy. It’s a tough situation. Our job is to play through rumors, and through whatever the situation is that may be tough. So I’m just focused on the task at hand, and whatever happens, happens,” Chandler said. “It’s not necessarily about starting. It’s just about being more consistent. If it’s 20 minutes, it’s 20 minutes and that’s cool. If it’s 35 minutes, if it’s 30 minutes; if it’s six shots, it’s 12 shots. If it’s this group, it’s that group.”
If these quotes are of any indication, Chandler and Malone appear to have conflicting views of the 29-year-old’s role on the Nuggets. While Chandler didn’t rule out staying in Denver, a report from Sam Amick of USA Today indicated his frustration without a defined role on the team.
While Malone issued a firm dismissal to rumors surrounding Emmanuel Mudiay (“Emmanuel’s a big part of our future”) he was unable to offer the same assurance to Chandler.
Come on spurs make a deal happen!!!! if somehow we can trade for wilson chandler without giving up a first round pick the spurs will be that much better…kyle anderson is perfect for wilson chandler but we need another player to match salary wise..
Danny Green or Manu would be the only options probably
I love manu coming off the bench but at his age and the ridiculous amount of what the spurs sign him too this year just awful…hate to see him go but danny green is younger a key player the spurs cant afford to lose..that being said how about this trade?
Spurs get wilson chandler,mike miller
Nuggets get manu ginobli,kyle anderson
The Spurs would never trade Ginobili. Loyalty.
And the Nuggets would never trade for Ginobili. He is over payed thanks to the Sixers offering a deal the Spurs had to match. If Denver were to trade Chandler they would want a better long term option than Anderson especially of they were to take on Ginobilis terrible contract
Yeah but right now ginobli can bring something ths nuggets have lack for years toughness and champion discipline…and some will argue he is a better player then chandler? As for kyle you must not like watching basketball because kyle brings alot to table at his height he can play point guard at times and shoot pretty well..granted he is slow but he bring so much to a team he just needs mins then ya’ll see his true potential..as for the contract issue your on point with ginobli plain awful!!!!
Sure!!! i wish i can say the same for bruce bowen??!!!
Would be a great for a Thunder team struggling to score. Clippers also desperately need a body at the 3 that isn’t an offensive liability. Wilson Chandler is a very versatile player who could fit into any system.
If I’m 29 years old and having a great season and have the all around skillset Chandler has, I’d want to be playing for a contender. To me, that adds up.
