Timberwolves guard Zach LaVine will miss the rest of the season after tearing the ACL in his left knee, according to Jerry Zgoda of The Star Tribune.
The injury happened during Friday’s loss to the Pistons and will require surgery, which will be scheduled at a later date.
LaVine has become a full-starter for Minnesota in his third NBA season. He was averaging 18.9 points and 3.0 assists through 47 games.
In October, the Wolves exercised their fourth-year option on LaVine, who will make more than $3.2MM next season. He will be eligible for a rookie-scale extension this summer.
Ouch! I don’t know if this will have an effect on the rubio to Milwaukee rumors
Tough, tough news. He’ll make it back stronger than ever though. Best wishes to him.
That sucks so much fun to watch him play and of course love the dunks
Terrible news for one of the game’s most exciting young players. Hope he comes back strong.
On a side note, what’s not mentioned above is LaVine is 3rd in the league in MPG. Too many minutes lead to injury, especially for a young player like LaVine in his first full season as a starter. While injuries like this can happen out of nowhere, Thibs deserve some blame for overplaying LaVine, as well as the rest of his starters. A better bench would help, but, after Rose tearing his ACL in Chicago and now LaVine in Minnesota, Thibs better wake up and start using his bench more or he’s going to destroy another promising young core.
Ridiculous to blame injuries on a coach.
Who dictates playing time? If you put a guy I’m and he’s 3rd in MPG that’s on the coach. Like leaving a pitcher out for 150 pitches.
Thibs tryin to win games. He wants to win. Who do they have off there bench that can give them quality 2 guard minutes
It’s the coach’s history and it’s following him to Minnesota. Ask bulls fans. Sad to have seen and over used Rose basically go from superstar to a washed up pg that’ll give you ten games a year if you’re lucky. I feel bad for Rose as I do for zach. Over use. Period.
Well that’s kind of GG…also takes them out of possible Butler scenario, although I still don’t think he gets moved
Should have traded him for Butler anyways. Ugh
This is borderline tragic.
I really like his game.
I wish a speedy recovery, but I know it won’t be.
Good
He is one of my favorite players so when I heard this it was devastating, but I know one thing, he is going to rehab like crazy and be back as soon as possible. I could see them trading a second round pick for Marco Belinelli to replace him or they could go out and sign someone like Stephenson. But again this is just devastating news for LaVine the Timberwolves and their fan base
Horrible.
If it’s any consolation Wolves fans, Jabari was a better player 18 months after his acl reconstruction..
It will not be a fun 18 months however, especially since you just endured Teddy Bridgewater’s season-crushing ACL.
Good luck.
This Cavs fan really enjoyed his game. This is bad for all NBA fans. Best wishes on the recovery and hope he can recover.
The sad part is this will somehow affect the rest of his career mage in a good or bad everything happens for a reason
I hope it’s a good beffect i love this guy , really devastated when i heard the news
*effect
Dunn-Rubio-Wiggins-Towns-Dieng should be the five they run with now. Get Dunn some more minutes see what he can do.
