Steve Kerr isn’t expected to coach the Warriors in Game 3 of the Western Conference finals, but he will accompany the team on its trip to San Antonio, according to Connor Letourneau of SFGate. GM Bob Myers relayed the news in a radio interview today. It’s the latest sign of improving health for Kerr, who watched from the locker room during Game 2 in Oakland. He has been out of action since health problems stemming from his 2015 back surgery forced him to leave the team midway through its first-round series. Lead assistant Mike Brown has guided the team to an 8-0 record in his place.
There’s more tonight from the Pacific Division:
- Spurs fans may get a chance to vent their anger at Warriors center Zaza Pachulia after all. Pachulia, who became a villain in San Antonio after his collision with Kawhi Leonard in Game 1 aggravated the Spurs star’s sprained ankle, left Game 2 in the first quarter with a right heel contusion. Pachulia underwent an MRI today, which came back negative, tweets Chris Haynes of ESPN.com. Pachulia is listed as day-to-day.
- Many experts believe the Lakers should grab Lonzo Ball with their No. 2 pick, writes Mark Medina of The Orange County Register. Although Washington’s Markelle Fultz is considered a standout choice to be taken first, Ball is “potentially a transformational-type point guard,” according to Stu Jackson of Turner Sports. “What makes him special are the same qualities that made a guy like Magic Johnson or Jason Kidd special,” Jackson said. “Lonzo sees plays most players don’t see.”
- The Suns were among the losers in Tuesday’s lottery, but they still have plenty of attractive draft options, according to Doug Haller of The Arizona Republic. Phoenix entered the night with the second-best shot at a No. 1 pick, but slid to fourth as the Lakers and Sixers both moved up. Haller states that Suns fans can console themselves with the possible addition of Kentucky’s De’Aaron Fox, Kansas’ Josh Jackson, Duke’s Jayson Tatum or Florida State’s Jonathan Isaac. Opting for Fox, Haller notes, would probably make Eric Bledsoe expendable in a trade.
Not a Phoenix fan but they’ve had respectable players drafted these past few years.
They should be very competitive and a threat sooner than later in the west
Suns should draft Josh Jackson, but will probably opt for Jayson Tatum.
If Jackson is there at 4 the suns will take him.
I know this isn’t cool to say but I hope L. Ball turns into a bust player
Because of lavar? I don’t want him to be a bust, I just don’t want him near my team.
I hope he drops to the Bulls. Lavar could then run the organization. They’d be better off with him than Paxon.
Not just him both of them it’s not a right to play in the NBA it’s a blessing so you should be happy with what ever team you play for not demand what team you want to go to he sounds like he won’t sign with any team but the lakers
eli manning did it the NFL and he ended up winning 2 rings
Don’t you remember what your parents told you 2 wrongs don’t make a right
What about when kobe did it
Not sure if they’re the Phoenix Suns or the University of Kentucky Basketball Program
How can anyone say that L Ball is going to be great in the NBA his college numbers (In his lone season with the Bruins, Ball posted 14.6 PPG, 7.6 APG and 6.0 RPG in 36 contests.) are not all that impressive and he’ll be going against the best of the best
I dont know for sure about how he’s going to end up. He can’t play defense, isn’t a lengthy dude for his size, and I question if he’ll be a willing and able scorer in the NBA, as well as if his jumpshot will stay consistent b/c of the release point and likey susceptibility to getting the shot blocked. That being said, he is really fun to watch, seems like a good kid that legit likes to see his teammates success and make them better, despite his father, seems like a really good playmaker, a pretty good rebounder at his size, and is pretty athletic. I can’t say Jason Kidd right now, just b/c of his size, though I see some of young Kidd in there. To me, he reminds me more of Goran Dragic, but not as good a finisher at the rim, and less of his scoring mentality.
Based on the things his dad has said and will continue to say, especially when the 2 projected to be better younger brothers come out, he better be lebron lol
Well what I’ve noticed is that Lonzo is almost as opposite personality to his father. While Lavar is flamboyant and outrageous, Lonzo is quiet and passive.
I’ll say he’ll be a hard working NBA player, so even if he doesn’t turn into superstar he will have a decent career.
I definitely think he’ll have at least a decent career
If the Suns plan to take Fox, assuming Jackson isn’t there for them, which I think he could be unless someone trades into the top 3, I wonder if a trade with indiana could work. Can’t entirely remember the length on these contracts, but I think Bledsoe has 2 years after this one remaining. How about Bledsoe, Alex Len, Derrick Jones, and the Heat’s 2018 and 2021 1st round picks, plus 2 of Phoenix 2nd rounders this year (I’m pretty sure they have multiple) for Paul George, #18 overall this year, rakeem christmas, and Kevin Seraphin?
Or replace the 2021 pick with 1 of Phoenix 2019 picks
Magic should sit Lavar down and explain that the first time he spouts off to the media that throws any kind of shade at the organization hell be watching his son in a Kings uniform.
On draft night, they should tell Lonzo to bring his dad and show up the next day to the gym. When they get there, Magic Johnson is waiting for them in his jersey, alone. He tells Lava he has some gear for him, and to suit up, b/c they’re going to play to 21, and when Magicdestroys him, he can STFU rofl. That would be gold
