The Knicks will work out Donovan Mitchell, sources tell Ian Begley of ESPN.com (ESPN Now link). Begley notes that New York is “highly intrigued” by the Louisville product’s defensive ability and versatility. It was previously reported that the team is considering Mitchell as an option for the No.8 overall selection.
Here’s more on the upcoming draft:
- Josh Hart will work out for the Kings on Monday, James Ham of NBC Sports reports (Twitter link). Sacramento owns the No. 5, No.10, and No. 34 selections in the upcoming draft.
- Isaiah Briscoe has a workout with the Jazz today, Adam Zagoria of Zagsblog tweets. Zagoria adds that the Kentucky product will go through drills with the Lakers on Monday.
- Antonius Cleveland will work out for the Blazers on Monday before heading to Charlotte to work out for the Hornets on Tuesday, Begley adds (via a separate ESPN Now link). The Southeast Missouri star also plans on going through drills with the Celtics and Jazz later in the week. Begley notes that several NBA executives from teams with picks in the second round have been impressed with the combo guard.
- The Lakers worked out Tyler Lydon earlier today, Zagoria adds in a separate tweet.
My prediction for the draft barring trade: Celtics-Fultz, Lakers-Ball, 76ers-Jackson, Suns-Tatum, Kings-Fox, Magic-Monk, T-Wolves-Isaac, Knicks- Smith Jr, Mavs–Ntkilina, Kings-Markkanen, Hornets-Justin Jackson, Pistons-Kennard, Nuggets-Mitchell, Heat-Zach Collins/Jarrett Allen. What I hope as as a fan is the lakers take Jackson and his offcourt stuff holds them back, the kings trade up to 3 to take Ball and crash and burn and whoever my suns get turns out to be a star. But who knows what will happen
I’ve gone back and forth on a couple of picks over just the last couple of days lol, I have a few alternative theories on a couple of the picks though, and then there are the trade possibilities as you said…at 10-13, if nothing changes, I think it could be Mitchell, Justin Jackson, Kennard, OG….I can’t figure out at all who the heat will want or will get…I know the guys I personally like for that spot, but the best fits will likely be the guys that go right ahead of them
I would like to know more info on Zach Collins though, if anyone can help with that. He is the one guy I don’t really know much about in the top half of the draft. Can anyone tell me how he is on defense? What’s his athleticism like? Can he defend pick and roll, and protect the rim? Offensively, is he a ball stopper, or can he make quick decisions? Does he play above the rim?
I’d go along with that.
No no no
Ball to the kings !!!
I’m from Germany and we love the draft.
We thinking that the Borings playoffs ever this art of “super teams” is not good for the face of the NBA !!!
LeBron is good but never in the near level of Maqic or Jordan …
Barkley was better than LeBron !!!
Barkley was nowhere near as a good of a player than LeBron.
Solid troll
I like Mitchell, but more in the 10-12 range. If Ntilikina is there for the Knicks, I expect the pick to be him. He theoretically is a bigger, better version of Mitchell as a floor
I could very easily see the Lakers swap 5 & 10 and someone else with Sacramento and draft Fox.
If I’m Boston, I’m seriously thinking of moving the pick for Sacramento’s 5&10. Probably get Fox and get a big at 10. Younger and deeper.
I’d ask for more if I was Boston. No reason not to fleece the Kings on some pick swaps. Shout out Sam Hinkie
Justin Jackson is not going to Charlotte. Collins is
