Duke forward Harry Giles could go as high as No. 10 overall to the Kings despite lingering concerns over his knee injury, according to ESPN.com’s Chad Ford. The Blazers, who control the No. 15 and No. 20 picks, are also intrigued by Giles, whose lone college season was marred by the injury, Ford continues. The Thunder, who pick No. 21, could also be a destination for Giles, who has been cleared medically by most doctors that have examined him, Ford adds.
In other draft-related news:
- The Sixers are trying to obtain another first-rounder in the bottom third of the draft by packaging the No. 36 and No. 39 overall picks in the second round, David Aldridge of NBA.com tweets. President of Basketball Operations Bryan Colangelo said earlier this week he was still seeking another first-round pick even after the trade with the Celtics for the No. 1 overall pick was finalized.
- Celtics GM Danny Ainge has executives around the league guessing as to what he’ll do with the No. 3 pick, according to Chris Forsberg of ESPN.com. Most believe that he’ll pick Kansas swingman Josh Jackson or Duke forward Jayson Tatum, but it’s not out of the realm of possibility he’ll pull off a shocker and draft Florida State forward Jonathan Isaac or North Carolina State point guard Dennis Smith Jr. Forsberg continues. He may trade down a couple of spots to land one of the latter two players, Forsberg adds.
- The Knicks are also looking to package a couple of second-rounders at No. 44 and No. 58 in order to secure a higher second-rounder, Michael Scotto of Basketball Insiders tweets.
Trader Danny. Interesting night.
I don’t see Giles ceiling being any higher than Indiana at 18. Portland probably can get him with their 20th pick, but they already have Vonleh. I could see the Nets at 22. He makes some sense there. Maybe even Toronto at 23….
Also just realized that Portland has the 15th pick, not the 16th. Ivw been talking about these picks for a while, referring to the Bulls at 15, and Portland at 16 lol…so that’s a fail by me
Maybe PHI and NYK work together here. 39 for 44, 58, and cash. Then, 36, 44, and 58 for a first?
58 is worthless. Sixers also own 46 and 50, so they don’t need to trade with knicks to get more ammo to move up.
I like it. We need to get rid of picks. We literally have too many players. We’re going to only be able to draft some kid who has to play in Lithuania for 4 years if we don’t unload some 2nd rounders.
Sixers will move 2 2nd rounders and Sauce to move up into the 1st round. They’ll draft and stash 1 kid over seas and to cap the night off you’ll finally see them trade Okafor and the remaining 2nd rounder for a future 1st round pick. By then the alarm will go off and the dream will be over. While the Sixers have made it known they want to do something, I don’t think they’ll be able to get it done but not for lack of trying. I think you’re going to see some fear out of other GM’s to do deals with the Sixers because the process has ended and they’re ready to win 40 games this season.
What the heck was that trade with Orlando ? They trade for the 25th pick in the draft for a future 1st round pick that would probably be higher and pick a Center when they are overloaded with Big Men. What are they going to do with there other 4 picks in the 2nd Round ?
