Fred Hoiberg was linked to the recently vacated Ohio State heading coach job, but sources tell Vincent Goodwill of Comcast Sportsnet that the coach has “no interest” in the position.
Hoiberg previously spent five seasons as the head coach at Iowa State and it would seem natural to connect the dots between him and a major opening, such as the one at Ohio State. However, it appears he wants to remain with the Bulls, a franchise with which he’s under contract for the next three seasons.
Bulls executive John Paxson said that the team wants Hoiberg back during an end-of-season press conference. Hoiberg wasn’t able to take Chicago past the first-round of this year’s playoffs, but Paxson believes that has more to do with a lack of shooting than it does with the coach.
Oh please Fred, please leave Chicago
And take GARPAX with you
Idk if Hoiberg can coach in the NBA, but I know he can’t coach this Bulls team as currently constructed. And I have no faith the front office has the capability or the desire to change the team construction to better fit what their head coach wants to do. There’s no reason for him to stay.
You can’t blame Hoiberg for a terribly constructed Bulls roster. Unless you expect Hoiberg to suit up and drain 3-pointers himself, it’s naive to blame him for a .500 regular season record. Hint: blame the players and GarPax.
How were any players supposed to get sny rhythm playing under Hoiberg? He’d dnp-cd a guy one night then trot him out there for 20 min the next night. Guy cannot coach in the NBA, read this article ( link to blogabull.com ) if you have a chance, completely illustrates my point
