11:49am: Tyson Chandler is a candidate to go to Atlanta if the Suns are part of a sign-and-trade for Millsap, tweets John Gambadoro of Arizona Sports 98.7 in Phoenix.
11:09am: After trading Dwight Howard Tuesday, the Hawks are exploring their options involving free agent forward Paul Millsap, according to Brian Windhorst of ESPN.com (hat tip to Slam Magazine). Windhorst said Atlanta has reached out to teams about a possible sign-and-trade, with the Suns, Kings and Nuggets all expressing interest.
New Hawks GM Travis Schlenk suggested last week that the team may not be willing to make a max offer to Millsap, who turned 32 in February. The Hawks can sign Millsap to a five-year deal worth about $205MM, while other teams are limited to four seasons and about $152MM.
Millsap is coming off his fourth straight All-Star season, averaging 18.1 points and 7.7 rebounds in 69 games. He made a little more than $20MM this season.
A Millsap deal would signal a full rebuilding job for the Hawks, who are on a string of 10 straight postseason appearances.
He’d be a great fit in Sacramento
Is this guy really worth a max contract? Not trying to insult him, just asking
It’s definitely a borderline decision. He’s played very well with Atlanta but he’s also getting to the age where you worry about him declining as a player in the later years of the deal. I think if you take the age factor out of it then he would be worth the max considering what other players get in this day and age but I don’t think he’s worth it at this moment.
he’s worth it to MN, need a PF/Veteran/Defender…He checks so many boxes and to get anyone in MN you have to overpay anyways.
No way is Paul Milsap worth 30% of any NBA teams salary cap. Regardless of what you may need as an organization, I don’t think anyone is dumb enough to pay $30-40 million per season to an old unathletic power forward. Milsap is a good player but thats just foolish. I think he’d be lucky to make $40 over the next 2 seasons much less one
Don’t think we have enough cap space for milsap but if they took garbage from us it could work.
Maybe trade Cole Aldrich (7mil per) , Shabbaz and a 2nd round pick for him??
I think the wolves should go for it the next 3-5 years let’s start now.
Unless we like Aldrich, griffin or some other big more and want to wait a year
No ones going to the warriors for the next 3 years
Only question is his age. If it was a 3 year max, I’d do it. He can play both ends of the floor, and do everything you want from him at the 4, but I can’t pay him 4 or 5 yeas of max money. I’d do 4 if I could get him at like $20-23 million though
no he is not…. he’s not that caliber of player… but neither is Conley… but he got ah Max deal
their trying to warn him that lebron is going to L.A
Lebron is not going to LA
Hate to hurt your feelings but he probably will
No to the Suns !!! We have Chriss !!!
I’m guessing u want to trade Chandler and Bledsoe for him
Lol, corleone is a nut job
I wonder how much of a return Atlanta could get in a sign and trade? At least one young player to build from?
Prob Gary Harris
Great fit for Philadelphia
Philly isn’t trading anything right now
Kind of a chubby sucka
Phoenix becomes more viable of they can actually move chandler for him, but I don’t see the reason for Atlanta to do that, and Phoenix has Chriss and Warren and Bender at the 4
