According to ESPN’s Marc Stein, at least one front office believes Jeff Teague is so committed to the Timberwolves that it’s not worth pursuing a meeting. It’s been said that the Knicks have abandoned the idea of sitting down with the Pacers free agent altogether.
We wrote earlier about how Sam Amick of USA Today called Teague Minnesota’s “heavy, heavy favorite” target. Since that time, Chad Hartman of WCCO in Minneapolis has already gone so far as to say that the team and the point guard have a three-year deal in mind (via Dan Cook of WCCO).
While teams and players can’t officially negotiate until midnight EST, there has already been much speculation about who the Wolves will target now that they’ve sent Ricky Rubio to the Jazz.
Welp… that was fast.
Same with ESPN rehiring Marc Stein.
I like decisiveness.
Well played offseason, Minnesota.
Well played.
Nothing like paying more for a lesser player
It’s league wide
I don’t think that Teague is worth a max contract. So I’m happy that the Knicks have decided not to pursue him. If the Knicks don’t blow up the roster, I think they should sign Rose for two years with a second year team option.
Ya they needed a PG that can also play off the ball and shoot, which is why George Hill or Jrue Holliday were much better fits in FA, considering they also play defense. Still, its an upgrade for them.
They probably could use a more versatile option at the 4, and a couple of wing shooters off the bench.
I’m glad someone else agrees. And I’m a huge Rubio fan, but he did not fit this team anymore. His lack of shooting would have been killer.
Although I’d like to see what the AAV is for Teague before praising this deal. Hopefully there is still enough for a stretch 4 and some bench depth
Ya I’m also reserving judgment overall until we see the contract, but in terms of fit, it’s definitely a lot better than Rubio, who I still don’t understand why Utah traded for
Mainly because they had 16 mil in cap room today that disappears after midnight, and they don’t believe Hill is coming back
Sad to see Rubio go. Excited for him to leave Utah when his contract is up. Spurs?
