The Pacers have talked to several teams about trading star forward Paul George, but don’t feel pressured to complete a deal before Thursday’s draft, writes Nate Taylor of The Indianapolis Star.
Team president Kevin Pritchard has had discussions with the Rockets, Cavaliers and Lakers about moving George, and the Wizards and Clippers have also expressed interest. However, the Pacers haven’t liked any of the offers enough to move forward with a deal.
The Pacers are hoping trade offers will improve tomorrow afternoon in anticipation of the draft. However, George’s public statements about wanting to go to L.A. are limiting what teams are willing to part with.
A source told Taylor that the Pacers may decide to listen to offers all summer, and maybe into training camp, before making a deal. Another source speculated that George’s value will continue to drop the longer the Pacers wait.
After Tuesday’s trade with the Nets, the Lakers reportedly offered Indiana both the 27th and 28th pick along with their choice of Julius Randle or Jordan Clarkson in exchange for George. A source said the Pacers are holding out for a significantly better offer.
Another source said that George wouldn’t object to playing for the Pacers next season if no deal is completed.
So if it doesn’t happen before the trade that means they won’t be taking the Lakers offer they made yesterday which makes me think a trad between those two team may not happen at all. We shall see. I’d love to see them get him rather than another team then he decides to stay with that team long term.
last sentence is my feelings exactly
Not true!
Could happen DURING the draft!
I tend to agree. If he goes to Cleveland and they beat the Warriors I can’t see a scenario where he leaves.
I’m convinced if we don’t trade for him we won’t get him. I don’t care what “his people” are saying. we have heard every free agent is coming and nothing. Go get him now
This s**t is annoying, like just trade for the guy already and cut the bs. With George,Lopez, and Ball you are looking at 30 wins minimum.
And we all know where 30 wins gets you in the NBA…
Pacers new Pres. is trying to act tough with absolutely nothing to gain here. If I’m him you pull the trigger ASAP. Offers don’t tend to get better the longer you wait.
Why trade for George? He doesn’t do anything for the Lakers as they are constructed right now. By the time the Lakers young core is ready to compete for a title George will be older and not as good of a player. There is no reason to waste the assets they have to be maybe a 40 win team with to chance at a championship. The better move would be to package the 2 late round picks along with Deng and Brewer to Orlando for Green and Meeks. Getting rid of Deng’s contract will give them over 70 mil for next years free agent class. Let Randle and Clarkson develop this next season with Ingram, Ball, Nance and Zubac.
Dude Meeks and Jeff Green are both UFAs. Where the Hell do you guys come up with these trades?
Paul George is better than any player on the Lakers roster could be even if they hit their 99th percentile ceilings. He’s a player every team should be trying to have on their roster for the foreseeable future.
Pacers getting too greedy. Take the Lakers offer and consider yourselves lucky. Personally if I’m the Lakers I wait. If he really wants to be a Laker then he’ll be one next year. Use those picks to better the team via draft picks
Heat can’t trade the pick until they make it, so they could be in play. If Boston isn’t willing to offer much, I’d have to say they have the best shot to trade for him, of the teams that would be willing to. Tyler Johnson, Rodney McGruder, Wayne Ellington, Josh McRoberts, and the 14th pick for Paul George works
