The Pistons are gauging the trade market for Andre Drummond and Reggie Jackson, league sources tell Michael Scotto of Basketball Insiders (Twitter link). As Scotto notes, Detroit initially attempted to determine Drummond’s and Jackson’s trade value around the deadline back in February.
Both Drummond and Jackson are coming off underwhelming seasons. Drummond, who inked a five-year, maximum-salary contract last summer, saw his scoring average slip from a career-high 16.2 PPG in 2015/16 to just 13.6 PPG this past season, while Jackson also failed to build on a career year, with his numbers slipping across the board — he was nagged by injuries throughout the year and was benched down the stretch.
Although Drummond and Jackson didn’t produce the way Detroit had hoped in 2016/17, they’re still the most talented players on the Pistons’ roster, making them intriguing potential trade chips. Stan Van Gundy has said he’s not looking to blow up his roster, but also expressed displeasure with the club’s showing in ’16/17, suggesting that changes could be on the way.
Even if the Pistons look to shake things up a little, a trade of either player – particularly Drummond – would qualify as a surprise. When our Dana Gauruder previewed the Pistons’ offseason earlier this week, he observed that it would be difficult for the team to get fair value in deals involving Jackson or Drummond, meaning it might make more sense to bet on them to bounce back rather than trading them.
Chandler and Bledsoe for Drummond
Tyson Chandler isn’t good
LOL! You always think you’re going to get something good for those two. You’re not. Nobody wants either one of them.
Eh. Bledsoe is a decent starting pg. chandler is a good vet to have in ur locker room. But that’s to little for a player of drummonds value
I think he has put this trade out there for every big name available. Bledsoe would be good but then they are creating the current problem Phoenix has with too many guards and not enough possessions.
Drummond for Booker would be the appropriate move if we go off of value and lets be honest, Phoenix isn’t that dumb.
Celtics could use a big but won’t pay his salary or give any thing quality up
Boy, would I like to see Drummond in green. I think he’d be JUST what they need and the change of scenery could really help him, too.
I think they C’s should go hard after him he’s young and give you what they need in a big way and you could probably get him without giving up this yrs #1
Russell, mozgov, deng, randle, for both!
Deal, no take backs
Not surprising that SVG would consider moving those guys. Same reason I want to move Whiteside. As for Reggie, the ego got out of hand, and his decision making has regressed. Detroit also needs more shooting around those guys. I ultimately don’t think either is moved, but it makes sense to see what possibilities are out there
Im sure Drummond is less likely to be moved but man if hes available I hope Danny could put together an enticing package. Maybe Crowder, Rozier a 2017 2nd Boston 1st 2018 ? for Drummond. Solves our rebounding issue. Ill live with the free throws if hes giving us 16 and 14 on the regular. Make it happen Danny.
Well almost all year before the trade deadline, I was talking about Whiteside, Waiters, and Babbit for Rozier, the Nets pick, Amir Johnson, Jonas Jerebko, and Tyler Zeller. As a Heat fan, I would have done that every day of the week. I got push back from both sides on that one, but a lot more heat fans that didn’t like it, and that was before Waiters broke out. I thought that would have helped Boston pretty significantly for this past year
Only player on that roster I’d want to keep is KCP. He’s the only all around player they have. Trade Drummond to the Lakers for Russell and Mozgov and their 28th? overall pick. Maybe you include Jackson in a 3 way deal that involves Melo. Maybe make a move with Magic.
Who would Magic give up?
Magic Johnson I think. Gosh this is gonna be confusing for awhile lol
Problem is they have like 4 4s in the ritation/on the roster and nobody that can really play on the wing other than KCP. Not consistent enough shooting. Tobias Harris, Marcus Morris, Stanley Johnson, are all 4s. This is a big summer for Stanley Johnson. I still really like him, but he needs to improve offensively to give them a shot to be a lot better next year. They also obviously need more from reggie jackson
Drummond by the Suns with this lineup is a dream in my Eyes .
Fox
Booker
Warren
Chriss
Drummond
Bank
Ulis
Barbosa
Jr
Williams
Kennard
I don’t believe they will trade Drummond, might be used to get him consistently motivated. He made an all-NBA team a year ago, and in his down year he averaged 14 & 14. Unless they get an offer of a high pick this year, and a quality player or two, it’s not happening. Athletic big man don’t just grow on trees.
Drummond’s work ethic is questionable, Jackson is a good backup PG that nobody wants as a starter. Van Gundy is horrible at putting together rosters and the Pistons squad is a classic example…and Stanley Johnson is not a 4.
