The Warriors are said to have reached an agreement with Middle Tennessee forward JaCorey Williams, Michael Scotto of Basketball Insiders reports. It’s unclear whether the deal is just for Summer League or one that will span into training camp.
Coming off of their second title in three seasons, the Warriors don’t exactly need reinforcements, but the 23-year-old big man averaged 17.1 points and 7.4 rebounds per game in college.
Should the agreement be for more than just a Summer League deal, there’s a chance that the parties could have come to terms on a two-way deal. Earlier today, of course, we wrote that the Warriors and Oregon’s Chris Boucher had agreed on a two-way contract.
I still can’t believe GS got Jordan Bell
Yea I seen some highlights, Bell is athletic and will be great off their bench as a lob target for Curry.
Have never seen him play. Is there an NBA comparison for him? I’ve read both Tristan Thompson and Draymond Green, which is odd since their games are pretty different.
Right now he’s a TT type of player, but if he develops he can be like Draymond that is the reason why he is compared to both.
He’s not close to TT in style. Thompson is a gritty rebounder not much lift and a limited athlete.
Bell is a hard-working defensive machine who can fly. Not much offense and no go to moves, but could be a gazelle on the wing.
If he were to play in an NBA game today he would be a Switch 5 and Getting offensive rebounds. which is basically what Tristan Thompson does.
Dude is a really good, hard working defender. Can defend pick and roll, covers a ton of ground on defense, and protect the rim. TT can’t pick and roll defend or protect the rim…Bell is like a combo of Draymond defensively, and your typical defensive 5 in today’s NBA. Then, he sets good screens, and can catch and finish at the rim
All he has to do is shoot 3s at even an average level and he fits in perfectly with Kerrs gameplan. And even if he doesnt do that hes still an incredible upgrade over whoever played when Draymond went to the bench.
If he actually shoots 3s, it’s not fair. Lol. But that isn’t going to happen…it isn’t necessary though.
For his sake I hope he remembers to box out at the next level…
