The Knicks had hoped that the Blazers would help facilitate a Carmelo Anthony deal between New York and Houston, but Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.com reports that Portland is only interested in a deal if it brings Anthony to its team.
The Blazers believe a deal for Anthony would push the team to compete with any non-Warriors Western Conference squad due to their talent and depth. As a result, the organization isn’t interested in helping New York send Anthony to another team in its conference.
Portland currently isn’t on Anthony’s short list of teams in which he’s willing to waive his no-trade clause for. It was previously reported that the 10-time All-Star would be open to a trade to the Rockets and Cavs, though we learned earlier today that he may be focused joining Houston.
Easy. Crabbe and Leonard for Melo. That’s 28M.
And also makes no sense for New York.
The problem is Melo’s no trade clause. If he doesn’t want to come to Portland, nobody can do anything.
Goodluck getting Melo to play in Portland
Knicks probably don’t do this.
1) doesn’t free up cap space
2) doesn’t address any need for the Knicks
Knicks sent gonna get anything for.melo
this has to finísh.
I mean it’s cool fit on paper, but with CP3 in Houston now I just really doubt Melo goes anywhere but Houston and Cleveland.
Melo and Noah for Turner, Aminu, Crabbe, & Collins
I still say the best deal is Melo to the Cavs Love to the Suns and Bledsoe to the Knicks with the Cavs coughing up a first rounder to the Suns for taking on the salary
Knicks get their veteran PG
Cavs get Melo
Suns get a 1st rounder and Love who they can flip to another team for more picks
If he goes to the Rockets you replace Love with Anderson Taylor and a 2020 first rounder. To make this trade work Melo either has to negotiate a lower buyout of the rockets have to move a 3rd player to either the Knicks or Suns
It’s a good idea but I think the Suns are trying to develop their young players so they wouldn’t want to take Love or Anderson since they would take pt away from Chriss and Bender
If the Cavs were willing to move Love in a deal to get Melo, it would’ve happened already without having to give up a first round pick. Knicks were willing to do it before the deadline and offered it.
Melo & Lee for Crabbe, Aminu & Harkless
No one the Knicks should want in that roster. The Knicks are set at shooting guard with Hardaway Jr, they could move Lee to the 3 and shoot why not just go with Baker at the 1 and move Melo to get a Porter Jr or Bridges in the draft.
No one is trading a top 5 pick (Porter Jr. Bridges, Doncic, Ayton or Bamba) to get a 33 year old ISO scorer. Now yes the Knicks should TANK and get one of those five after either trading or buying out Carmelo.
Only way the Knicks get Porter Jr is if they trade him to the Magic for their first round pick lol
Nobody wants to see Love by the Suns !
Suns Have good young Players with Chriss and Bender he needed playing time !
THANK YOU
The only team that really makes sense to trade Melo to and dump his salary is the Nets since they have the most free cap space, but Melo won’t go there. The Knicks need to realize they aren’t going to get young cost friendly players for him. The Knicks also aren’t helping the rebuild cause which they should go into sooner rather than later by handing out $71 million contracts to average players and other guys this past offseason(Rose Noah Lee) they need to get rid of Noah and Lee and somehow eventually get out from Hardaway Jr.’s deals to start the rebuild and build around Nilikina and Porzingus
Melo wants to go to Houston and he can basically pick which team he wants because of his no trade clause
i cannot see melo agreeing to this if he knows he can join cp and harden
I used this scenario on 2k the other day and it worked out well.
Why is everyone wasting energy putting together scenarios?
He will not go there!!!
He has his heart set to play in Houston and they want him bad…
Knicks better be tough and get something good in return for him to make that happen.
Melo, Noah, Thomas and Knicks 2019 1st round pick for Turner, Harkless, Aminu, Leonard and Portland’s 2018 1st round pick? I don’t remember what I mentioned a few weeks ago, but the point remains that Melo would have to waive his NTC and probably, most of his trade kicker. Portland is usually a place people like once they’re there, but I doubt Melo wants to move all the way out there at this point of his career
Melo has a ntc he chooses his destiny. The rockets are only trying to trade for him because if he gets bought out he’s going to the Cavs. The Cavs have a clear path to the finals, Rockets don’t and have a tough road.
and then next offseason Lebron, Paul, Wade, Melo choose their team to all play on.
Who want 4 old dudes Wade is washed and only has flashes. CP3 has never been to a conference final. Melo has won 3 playoff games in 14 years. GSW would still clown this team. Cause after those 4 come together who subbing in. You talk about being over the cap.
Who will want Wade, Paul, Anthony , and James together on a squad. After you pay them who ridibg the bench. Be real Melo in his position cause of greed and not wanting to compete for a ring. I say he a loser not a winner same with Paul. The Rockets still won’t be able to stop anybody. No D on that team.
Melo to Rockets, Ryan Anderson to pelicans, rondo to knicks, Demarcus cousins to knicks, Courtney Lee to pelicans, Eric Gordon or Trevor Ariza to knicks,Rockets 2018 1st rd pick to pelicans.
Options for noah
Noah to Orlando magic for Fournier
Sign n trade with Minnesota for shabazz. Or trade Noah for Dieng and a 2nd rd pick. For taking contract
Why would the Pelicans do this they are in win now mode as well even though they won’t.
They already said they wanted to be involved. Why wouldn’t they? They get 1 maybe 2 1st rd pick, Ryan Anderson back, Courtney Lee, and a filler player. So if they want to win now they can trade the draft picks to get another big name player to put along side holiday n davis
Dreams…
and melo wants to run to houston why? no offense to CP3 and harden but them two can’t tell melo how to win melo has been further in the playoffs then both (and I mean houston harden not OKC harden) of them melo is at a point of his career where he needs to follow someone look at the success he had with Chauncey billups he needs to look at when lebron did with wade when he first came to miami and when KD went to GS he needs to follow what his peers are doing and even if he goes to the rockets they ain’t beating GS in their first year it’s gonna take time to figure out how three dominant ball players are going to play together and melo and CP3 don’t have that time because they at the tale end of their primes
The Blazers make the most sense for the Knicks from an organizational standpoint. Blazers have a few young assets that they can send to the Knicks in return for Melo compared to the Cavs and Rockets. However, not sure if Melo is willing to go to Portland since all the rumors are that he prefers Houston.
Depending if Portland would want to take on Courtney Lee. I would like to see a Melo & Lee for Evan Turner, Al-Farouq Aminu, and Harkless (St. Johns fan as well lol).
I might be in the minority on Aminu, but I felt like I saw him do some really nice things last year. And like the previous comment addressed by Greg, the Knicks need a PG along Ntilikina. The trade would also open up a little bit extra cap room.
I know this a more pro-Knick trade but I do think Melo and Lee can provide some extra scoring punch along Lillard and McCollum for the Blazers to keep up in the West.
Sorry for the long post.
