Suns guard Eric Bledsoe is adding fuel to the rumors of a possible deal to Cleveland by working out with LeBron James and newly signed Cavaliers guard Derrick Rose this week in Las Vegas, according to ESPN.com. Bledsoe is among several players who have been tied to Cleveland in the past week in rumored trades involving Kyrie Irving, but he has a unique connection by being a client of Klutch Sports, just like James and teammates Tristan Thompson and J.R. Smith. “I love everything about [the Phoenix area],” Bledsoe told Scott Bordow of The Arizona Republic this week. “At the same time, I want to win.” A report Tuesday said the Suns wouldn’t be willing to part with first-round pick Josh Jackson in an Irving deal.
There’s more from the Central Division:
- Today’s press conference with owner Dan Gilbert and new GM Koby Altman did little to calm the nerves of Cavaliers fans, writes Marla Ridenour of The Akron Beacon-Journal. Despite Altman’s assurances that the feud between James and Irving is “overblown,” there is clearly a rift between the stars and Irving’s trade request could sour team chemistry if he is not moved before the season starts, Ridenour adds. Gilbert and Altman both used the word “fluid” to describe Irving’s situation, and Altman admitted that he has been in touch with Irving’s agent.
- Pistons guard Ish Smith understands the business side of the NBA that can result in losing a teammate and friend like Marcus Morris, relays Tony Paul of The Detroit News. During a public appearance today, Smith, who has played for 10 teams in eight seasons, commented on the trade that sent Morris to Boston in exchange for Avery Bradley. “It’s a business. You gotta move on,” Smith said. “I stand by Coach (Stan Van Gundy). I hate losing one of my good friends, but we’re excited about Avery and how talented he is, how good he is and what he brings.”
- Van Gundy says the Pistons are done with major moves before the season starts, Paul adds. The coach believes the team has significantly improved its 3-point shooting by obtaining Bradley and Langston Galloway and drafting Luke Kennard.
- Mike McCarthy, who has been the Bucks‘ chief operating officer for the past eight months, has submitted his resignation, according to Rich Kirchen of The Milwaukee Business Journal. McCarthy will serve as a consultant to the team.
Bledsoe and Bender
For
Kyrie Irving
Bledsoe and Bender
For
Kyrie Irving
No thank you. Not enough.
booker and Bledsoe
Booker and Irving is a worse fit than Arenas and Monta Ellis in their primes…horrible fit.
Cavs have no leverage, will not get fair market value for Irving.
Then they’ll hold onto him. I don’t think Gillbert cares at this pont
He’s under contract for 2 seasons, there don’t have to do anything….so yes, they have all the leverage
*they
Bledsoe and a first rounder is probably realistic
Not even close
Good joke hahaha not enough what do you want for Kyrie ?
Bledsoe is a really good player but not in the spotlight Bender is Nowizki 2.0
Bledsoe and Chandler für Irving is enough
Bender is “nowizki” 2.0? You’re nearly as bad as formelyz
Seriously? Totally off topic, and deliberately insulting for literally no reason. You have a personal vendetta against me b/c I didn’t like the Olynyk contract for the team I’ve rooted for my entire life? I’m sorry I have an opinion. No, I’m not sorry. This is the United States of America, and I’m allowed to express that opinion. Nobody asked you to agree. I never personally attacked you. You’ve now done this 3 times. That’s so incredibly childish, it’s truly amazing. You have an issue with what I have to say, then don’t read it. Keep my name out of your mouth, and off of the keyboard you’re hiding behind. Otherwise, you’re just a clown with nothing better to do than to comment about other people commenting on sports articles
You have a down right stupid opinion. You think reed is better than Whiteside lol. I’ll keep talking about you as much as I want because I’m not going to let you pretend you’ve said all the dumb stuff you have said
I don’t think that Reed is better than Whiteside. I do know that he is better than him at certain things that matter at the 5 position, and he is a very, very good resource to have as a backup in case of injury or for defensive purposes, as was shown last season when he played extremely well in Whitesides absence, and when he was finishing games for us, while Whiteside sat on the bench. He was part of several of our best lineups, and our defensive efficiency was higher with him on the floor b/c he isn’t chasing blocks, pays attention to the little details, plays pick and roll defense, and still protects the rim. Those 2 guys were a great tandem, and they have a real relationship b/c they’ve played together for multiple years when both were on the same D-league team
He is literally not better at anything. His defensive efficiency was better because he mainly player against 2nd units alongside Johnson when Whiteside would play with Babbitt. Whiteside stopped trying to block everything last year. Again do you actually watch games?? It just baffles me you could watch reed and think he’s good. He moves like a 50 year old with back problems. Why do you think he got the minimum??? And if you want to bring relationships into it Olynyk is known as great team guy aswell so we’re losing nothing from that side either.
Late in the season, Whiteside did show improvement in that area, and stayed down, but he was still late on rotations, which allow for free dumpoff passes underneath or free putbacks. When Whiteside pays attention to the little details, he plays a lot better, you are definitely right. You are also correct that James Johnson at the 4, instead of Babbit, is a significant defensive difference. Still, the Heat had multiple of our best lineups with Reed on the floor. Whiteside was also part of a couple of those. They’re a very good tandem to have. As I said, Reed played really well when Whiteside was hurt. I don’t see why you have to hate on him just to defend Olynyk, who again, I hope is really good for us, with our development staff. If he shoots the lights out, or improves defensively, or hopefully both, that would obviously make me feel a lot better, as that would give us a dynamic we didn’t have last year without McRoberts
There are several reasons why Reed only got the minimum that has been said over and over already as well, but the market for bigs this off-season apparently was nonexistant, and they signed when nobody had any money. Reeds deal this year is reminiscent of Dedmon last year. It’s sort of a “do it again” type of deal
Not going to let you pretend you haven’t said all the dumb stuff you have said*
Go support bulls lil boy
Bledsoe and Bender sounds good. Of course people look at Bender as a bust but I believe in the kid’s potential.
Not even close to being enough for Irving
Actually is, Bender will be a star down the line.
4 quarters don’t equal a dollar. So in this case 3 quarters and a plug nickel certainly doesn’t get the job done.
Based on what? Your gut? Only time will tell if someone becomes a star. Far from enough for a guy that’s entering his prime and under team control for 3 more years..
But the Cavs need to build for the future because Lebron is leaving next summer. I could see Rose re-signing with Cleveland if he has an excellent year. Bender would he a nice building block.
He is? Can you tell us what the lotto numbers are for tomorrow too?
The Cavs want either Bledsoe and Booker, or Bledsoe and Jackson. They won’t make the deal without some mixture of these guys. I believe when push comes to shove, the suns will part with Jackson. They crave a superstar talent, and this might be the only way to get one.
Slim chance of either of Booker or Jackson being traded. Trading either of them with Bledsoe doesn’t make them a playoff team (in the West) the next two years and puts them in a much worse status when Irving leaves. So what would Phoenix’s motivation be? What good is superstar talent if it doesn’t help you make the playoffs…
Bender is 19 years old in two years he has stats like 17 p 8 r 4 a
This kid has potential
which is puke bad compared to Irving.
Stop with Bender. His 321%s are 28-48-36. Horrible. Doesn’t block shots or rebound much for a 7footer. 36% FTs! Does he not even practice his game?
The Suns will budge on Jackson (+Bledsoe) then be repelled when the Cavs want more. Maybe the Cavs can do something with Jackson with a future-looking team needing a SF.
Suns GM won’t include Jackson.
Then they no get Irving
He was the youngest player in the league last year.
What cav fans don’t get is they have no leverage because the Suns don’t have to make a deal with a high price tag. They have Bled for a guarantee 2 years and they would have Kyrie for 2 years if they trade for him, point being Suns maybe 2 years away with either point guard why sell some of the future for something that does nothing to a tanking team. Maybe if it was LBJ cav fans could get their high ransom but Suns should not over pay. Meaning the core of Booker and Jackson should be left alone.
What about Bledsoe and Chadler for Irving? The Cavs could use a big man that can protect the paint and rebound very well. Tyson is better rebounder and makes the same or a little more points than Thompson and cost less. Maybe time to seek a trade for Thompson?
How’s the money work out on that? Tyson Chandler still has $26.5M left, so the Cavs would have to send something similar back, which would most likely be J.R. Smith. In which case, the Suns would have to pony up Booker or Bender anyways.
I don’t know why the Cavs would want to swap from Thompson to Chandler, though. Getting 9 years older at center? For minimal difference? Sounds like a trade just for the sake of making a trade.
I really believe Bledsoe, Warren, Chriss, and Chandler for Irving and Shumpert would be a good deal. Not sure which side would say no, my guess would be Phoenix. But they can’t expect to get Kyrie for nothing. They’re not willing to part ways with Booker or Jackson so they have to give up some depth. Cleveland gets younger and some scoring on then perimeter with Warren and Bledsoe. Chandler brings defense and rebounding. Chriss is an exciting young prospect who can come off the bench and bring energy while develop around James, Love, Chandler, and other vets. Phoenix keeps Jackson, Booker and clears up some cap.
Not a good trade for the Suns… Warren and Chriss along with Bender and Booker are the future of them. Bledsoe and Chadler for Irving is a good trade tho.
Your Ganja is very good man … Bledsoe Warren Chriss for shumpert and Irving do you crazy ??? Suns biggest loooser ever for this trade
Wow, what if they are just friends working out together. Ever thought about that?
