The Cavaliers are working to honor Kyrie Irving‘s trade request and they’ve been in contact with his camp as they parse offers from interested teams, Joe Vardon of Cleveland.com reports.
The Suns are among the teams to make Cavs an offer and a source tells Vardon that if Phoenix was willing to part with Eric Bledsoe, Josh Jackson, and a future first-round pick (Miami’s partially protected 2018 selection) that a deal would be “done by now.” While the two teams could certainly agree to that trade, league rules would prevent such an arrangement from occurring since Jackson cannot be dealt until 30 days after he signed his rookie contract. The Kansas product put pen to paper on July 3.
Phoenix is reportedly unwilling to surrender Jackson in a deal for Irving and it’s unknown what the franchise is actually offering for the point guard. Steve Kyler of Basketball Insiders (Twitter link) speculates Cleveland does send Irving to the Suns that a package of Bledsoe, T.J. Warren and potentially Marquese Chriss would be the likeliest haul. Kyler believes Phoenix would have to take back Iman Shumpert in that scenario.
The Cavs and Suns could certainly work out a deal involving different parameters, but it’s clear that any variation of an Irving trade will not include Devin Booker. A source tells Vardon that the shooting guard was told by the team that he won’t be dealt.
They would be smart not to offer Josh Jackson or Booker they are going to do well together.
No need to rush the trade. Hold out for the best deal. Bledsoe & Jackson is a must.
Indiana waited and they got the crappiest deal. You’ve got to jump on a good deal when it’s offered and not hope for something better next week.
PG13 was in a walk year lest you forget?
no indy gm just an idiot
Yup! He just wanted to screw George!
How exactly did George get screwed by landing on a Playoff team that includes the league MVP?
The Suns will not give up Josh Jackson
Jackson fell to them and that is who they wanted
End of Story.
I believe the Cavs are stuck with Irving.
I think you’re right. Unless they can swing something at the trade deadline in February.
The whole thing was unexpected and the Suns had their plan/strategy. It did not include Irving at any point.
James might be ‘stuck’ with Irving, but fans are fine with that. Cavs FO will likely wait because Irving will not tank and they would like other teams to compare their players to him.
If the suns just keep everyone they have and don’t get rid of Bledsoe they have a good chance of signing lebron after next season
Lol no.
Wow you are special
Hahahahaha funny
corleone got a new handle
Nah Lebron is gonna sign with the Jazz
When Dionis is making fun of something you say, that’s how you know you messed up
Knicks get Kyrie, JR Smith
Cavs get Melo, Schröder (Cash)
Hawks get Frank Ntilikina
Why on earth would the Cavs agree to that? That trade makes them worse.
How? Cavs get a quality, young PG as well as Melo, in exchange for Kyrie, who they have to trade regardless…
If anything Atlanta is getting short-changed cus Schröder is only 23, but they are rebuilding anyways so
Agreed. I don’t know why the Hawks would give up Schroeder for a kid that pretty much only Phil Jackson believes has any real upside.
There is a difference between the Irving and PG13, Kyrie has 2 years left on his contract. They can be patient and get the best deal. They can bring him back, and make trades after Dec 15, when FA’s signed this year can be traded. I would take Teague and AW, over Bledsoe and Jackson.
That will be an expensive option!
I’ve said it before, Bledsoe, TJ Warren, Chandler and one of Miami’s 1st rd picks for Irving and Shumpert. Warren is a special talent, great defensively and offensively and closer to being a key contributor to an NBA team than Chriss or Bender. He would be to the Cavs what Iguodala is to the Warriors.
I look at Sun’s profiles and wonder if the CAvs would do better with Alan Williams than with Chandler, Warren, Chriss or Bender. Over 36mins ‘the beast’ averages 15 rebs, 1.7 blocks, and 6.5 fouls! Most impressively the team just signed him to 17 mil over 3 years after he only played 776 minutes in the last 2 years. Hmmm
But FA can’t be traded until after Dec 15. The only two I’m interested in seeing leave are Bledsoe and Chandler. I don’t trust Bledsoe will be healthy two or three years in a row.
If they don’t trade Jackson than any deal should have to include booker is what they should be saying
*then
Corleone is going to have an aneurism after reading the suggested package.
celtics should trade thomas,crowder,boston#1,clippers#1 for irving-makes sense for both teams
That is A LOT to give up though Beantown….
Them watch when KI and IT meet in the playoffs and get into a shooting contest…
I think if the Suns feel they have a shot at retaining Kyrie they need to give booker or Jackson in that deal to get it done.
Bledsoe + Booker + chandler for Kyrie and shumpert plus maybe Cleveland throws in a pick
Never
That sounds like a fair trade.
The Cavs shouldn’t trade Kyrie to the Suns unless they offer Josh Jackson as part of the deal. If they really don’t want to trade Jackson then that’s fine but they aren’t getting Kyrie.
And we are completely fine with that. You talk as if we will be hurt over not getting kyrie because we don’t want to give a kings ransom for you cavs fans completely overvaluing his game. Keep him please. He’s the one who wants out of cleavland.
Suns fans (myself included) don’t want Kyrie if the trade includes Booker or Jackson. Why would we want to let go of two guys with star potential that we’ll have for the rest of their rookie contracts AND RFA deals after that, for a ball dominant PG who doesn’t play a lick of defense? No thanks. Sorry Cleveland, but now that everyone knows Kyrie wants out, you have no leverage, and you’re not getting Booker or Jackson.
For multiple cost-controlled years of a young point guard with his ability, they have plenty of leverage. This isn’t Paul George.
Irving says he is willing to join Suns, Nuggets, Clippers, Hornets, Knicks. But not Warriors, Rockets, or Pacers
Lebron likely to join LA Lakers or Clippers in 2018
Cavs fans are seriously delirious. You are talking as if the Suns are trading for Lebron and not Kyrie. The only thing kyrie has on beldsoe alone is he’s 2 yrs younger and is a great scorer. Bledsoe is a better defender steals, rebounder, and blocks and heck assists. So kyrie averaged 4 more points a game. The Suns have no problem scoring. Never have. It’s the defense. So trade Bledsoe who is a better defender than kyrie and is only scoring 4pts less a game and a skilled rookie #4 pick high on defense which is what we need and you (laughable) want a 1st round pick on top of it. Lol damn! Again you are not trading Lebron people. It’s kyrie. Quit trying to way over value who he really is. I swear reading most of your comments make me laugh and really shows your ignorance in basketball. Silly silly people. Tricks are for kids. Get a grip on reality and quit with your Bledsoe and has to be booker or Jackson and 1st rounder for our precious (kyrie). lol seriously stop!!!
Cavs fans are overvaluing Kyrie, but considering he has multiple years left and has shown the ability to take over an offense at times, you can’t act like he doesn’t have value. Saying Bledsoe is just about as good as Kyrie was your first mistake. Adding a first rounder barely moves the needle in a deal like this, especially since that pick *might* turn into a role player (yes, I know where Booker was picked, but he’s the exception…not the rule). It’s perfectly reasonable for the Cavs to ask for Jackson too; Bledsoe and a first rounder doesn’t make them better now or in the future, so why bother making a deal if it doesn’t include Jackson? If you don’t want to give up Jackson then that’s understandable, but then don’t expect to get Kyrie either.
I was in the same position you are a few years ago when I didn’t want the Cavs to trade Wiggins for Love. But sometimes you have to take a gamble like that in order to take the next step, and the Cavs don’t win the finals in 2016 if they don’t have Kevin Love. I had reservations about the Cavs doing it at the time, but I’d make that trade all over again if it was up to me.
First of all you don’t know if the cavs would have not made the playoffs with Wiggins or not. What you did know was that Love was a very good allstar caliber player and you were getting years of proving what he can do and you were trading an unknown #1 pick for him. Completely different scenario. Nobody is questioning kyrie and his offense but the facts are for the last 4 yrs and for this last year when kyrie averaged 25 pts a game it was only 4 more than Bledsoe and Bledsoe has proven over the last 4 yrs he’s a better defender, passer, shot blocker, steals, and rebounder than kyrie is. So while everyone wants to discredit Bledsoe and what’ he’s been able to prove at the same time everyone wants to make kyrie this basketball god. He’s not!! I’m clearly saying we don’t need kyrie to score points for us. We don’t ever lack in scoring. We lack in defense but the cavs and the cavs fans want one of the best defensive guards in the NBA who played at an allstar level (proven) by numbers and they want our #4 pick defensive talent and a first round pick for a guy who is an offensive specialist who only scored 4 more points a game than Bledsoe did. You people are crazy and don’t understand basketball. All the comments are about hype instead of real numbers. Now Chris Paul has a ton of assists and can score and can defend who is a much better point guard then kyrie. That’s somone in his prime you can give up a lot for because he will help you all around not just scoring.
You literally gave no substance to any arugument. Bledsoe has multiple years and at a better cost as far as his contract goes compared to the over inflated contracts everyone is getting now. Once again all you did was throw what Bledsoe actually proved with his numbers to the side as if it’s fiction because you are overvaluing kyrie. Bledsoe averaged more assists, steals, rebounds, and blocks than kyrie for the last 4 yrs. kyrie has been a better scorer than Bledsoe but by a very slim margin. Bledsoe still averaged over 20pts a game. So you are asking to give up Bledsoe allstar caliber numbers, Jackson #4 pick who’s projected to be a great defender and very athletic, and a first rounder for soneoe who only played better offensively than just Bledsoe by a slim margin. Again. The Suns don’t need more offense. It’s getting stops is what they need and Bledsoe and Jackson will start for the Suns and get more stops by far than kyrie will and score enough to win games. Kyrie isn’t the difference maker for them. Now if w me were trading for the unicorn I might be inclined to make that trade maybe because he plays defense and rebounds and scores. Quit overvaluing kyrie and devaluing Bledsoe when the numbers don’t equal what’s actually being done.
I’d only want to see Bledsoe go because he hasn’t been healthy for more than two consecutive years.
I’m with AZ if I were the Suns I wouldn’t trade Bledsoe …. Warren …. And a 1st round Pk
The Suns can be one of the most exciting teams In the NBA
We don’t
Need Irving for
So
Much ( Warren Jackson Chriss ) this player are untouchedable player for Pheonix future.
Luca Doncic is the right player for the Suns !
I agree that the Cavs are overpricing Kyrie. I think the Suns would be better in the future with Bledsoe and Johnson and a future first rounder than with Kyrie. if I were the Cavs I will take that all day
