July 24: The signing is official, according to a team press release.
July 21: Free agent guard Luis Montero is poised to sign a two-way contract with the Pistons, a league source tells Jorge Sierra of HoopsHype. It will be the first two-way deal in franchise history for Detroit.
Montero, 24, went undrafted in 2015, but caught on with the Trail Blazers and made his NBA debut for Portland during the 2015/16 season. After playing limited minutes in 12 games for the Blazers, Montero has spent most of his time with various G League clubs.
In 2016/17, Montero averaged 8.8 PPG and 6.2 RPG in 49 total contests for the Reno Bighorns and the Sioux Falls Skyforce.

I remember the story about how he called Damian Lillard for a ride to practice super casually like he wasn’t the 15th guy on the roster calling the star player lol. But they became friends which definitely shows Lillard is down to earth and down to drive a rookie to practice. I hope Montero gets some PT with the Pistons, looking forward to seeing him play.
Cool story. I hadn’t heard that one. I know Dame is still close with Tim Frazier. Seems like a super down to Earth guy who isn’t above hanging out with players way below his skill level. I still haven’t heard a single negative thing about him as a person
Craziest thing was it was a blackout day too so the coaching staff was encouraging players to stay home lol. That’s why I really love the Blazers, they’re always going to work to get better and they have really good team chemistry. I definitely agree, he’s a great leader and cool dude, not to mention super talented in both basketball and music. I’m super glad to have a player like that.
