July 19: The signing is official, according to the team’s website.
July 16: The Rockets have reached an agreement with Luc Mbah a Moute, sources tell Chris Haynes of ESPN.com (Twitter link). The deal will be a one-year, minimum salary arrangement, according to Michael Scotto of Basketball Insiders.
Mbah a Moute had been in talks with the team about returning to L.A, though the team only had the veteran’s minimum at its disposal. He’ll get that sized deal with Houston after choosing to opt out of a $2.3MM player option in order to hit free agency.
Mbah a Moute has bounced around the league since the Bucks selected him in the second round of the 2008 draft. He played well in the Clippers’ starting lineup last season, shooting 50.5% from the field on 378 attempts while providing excellent defense.
That melo trade might be out the door now.
Uh no. If anything Mbah a Moute makes a Melo trade even better for the Rockets as they’d maintain a good defense even without him. Plus Ariza could easily be gone now.
The rockets have 2 former clippers.
I’m gonna bet now they won’t win a
Championship. LOL
If they get melo they might win a championship
I still see Ariza staying. This is a move to bolster the defense and add depth as they are probably going to give up Anderson and multiple smaller contracts in a trade for Melo
Portland is saying they don’t want to help the rockets get melo unless melo actually wants to be in Portland they’ll trade for him
All this is really is adding decent depth on a minimum contract. Nothing to see here.
He is a very good defender that has been a starter on a few 50 win teams
A starter who averages 20 minutes a game. I don’t think I’ve seen him on the floor with 6 minutes to go in the 4th.
That won’t be his role in Houston. His role is to play 12-15 minutes of great perimeter defense when Harden or CP3 are on the bench and he is the perfect guy to do that.
Where are the Spurs! Luc would have been a great add there too.
Nice move by the Rockets, who have a nice mix of O with Paul, Harden and possibly Melo, and D with Ariza, Luc, Capella and Nene.
I love this guy’s name. Glad he found his niche in the NBA
They could use a somewhat versatile option at the 4, or another guard/wing shooter, which allows them to use Tucker, Ariza, mbah a mute at the 4 spot in certain lineups.
Means nothing dude averaged how many points last year. Nene fon’t play on defense and he is old and had an injury last year in the playoffs.
Seems like you forgot about half of the game…Defense
6 pts in 22 minutes. He is subtraction by addition.
