The Warriors have re-signed Zaza Pachulia, Sam Amick of USA Today tweets. The big man will receive a raise this year, in the form of a one-year, $3.5MM deal.
The 20% pay increase is the most the franchise could give the Georgian center, Anthony Slater of the Mercury News adds and will – per Bobby Marks of ESPN – increase the franchise’s luxury tax bill significantly, as much as $8.8MM in tax alone.
In 70 games for the Dubs this season, Pachulia posted 6.1 points and 5.9 rebounds per game. His biggest contribution to the team, however, is his physical presence in the paint.
Next… JaVale, and we are set !!
To recap:
The Bucks finish in the Top 5 in Defense in 2015. Anchored by Zaza.
In response, they give away ZaZa for no compensation. Unless you consider a 31-55 protected pick Compensation.
They proceed to sign John Henson and Miles Plumlee for $96 million guaranteed and their “big free agent” Greg Monroe for another $52 million to be a 6th man.
ZaZa continues to play solid, strong team Defense on a minimum deal.
Monroe opted into a contract nobody wants. Henson is unplayable. And Plumlee turned into borderline unplayable Spencer Hawes.
Oh and their lottery pick in 2106 plays Center.
So for all the bashing that goes on around Vlade and the Knicks and in Orlando, Milwaukee and John Hammond should be getting a public beating.
Don’t get me started on selling 2nd round picks (McCaw) to the champions or trading away 1st Rounders for Greivis Vasquez.
Yeah just you drafted Giannis. But the gutless, directionless moves Hammond made around him make me LAUGH at what Orlando is getting themselves into with him and Weltman.
Incompetence knows no bounds.
Also drafted Brogdon, Maker and Middleton, and as you said Giannis, digging a gem out of the dust might I add. No GM is perfect and his team got to playoffs this year and is positioned to make postseason runs for the foreseeable future.
The GMs you named have orchasted lengthy, unsuccessful, and unproductive rebuilds while failing in the draft and with poor trades in greater quantity.
Although Hammond made some bad decisions, it’s hard to justify bashing him
And man, Ranadive is awful, hands down the worst, maybe ever
As someone who doesn’t get a chance to watch the Bucks, what makes Henson so bad? I’ve always seen him as a lengthy big that could be a rim protector and the potential to guard smaller guys.
The difference between those three teams and the Bucks is that the Bucks have actually made the playoffs. The Kings and Knicks are well…the Kings and Knicks; both are incompetently run teams from the top-down. The Magic have been in a rebuild just as long (if not longer) than the Sixers, and arguably have less to show for it. They are all very well deserving of the bashing they get.
The 1st rounder for Vasquez was definitely an overpay, but you can’t bash teams for selling their second rounders. Most second round picks will be lucky to see the court at the NBA level. If the team isn’t in love with the players available in the second round, I can’t blame them for trading their pick. The Warriors having success with their second rounders (Draymond and McCaw) speak more to the Warriors’ scouting and development than it does about the Bucks’ incompetence. The other 29 other teams passed on those two as well, so its not like the Bucks are the only one who didn’t buy in to their potential.
Milwaukee kind of already fixed their mistakes from a couple of years ago, dude…and Kris Middleton missing half the year obviously hurt them defensively
Do they have enough $$ to offer McGee?
If not McGee, they could probably get Matt Barnes for next to nothing.
I thought they’d keep him before they signed Casspi. I’d prefer Barnes defense and toughness to Casspi’s shooting, but it probably doesn’t matter too much.
But ya, I don’t think they have the money for Javale, but the market for bigs has been totally different from my expectation

I was kind of hoping to see them grab someone else, but I also didn’t think they’d get Nick Young at the taxpayer MLE, so they didn’t have the money to get a more athletic big. They have a couple of good young bigs though, so it should be fine.
Dedmon is on their radar if he’s willing to take a min. deal.
Thats a backup plan in case they don’t get JaVale of course.
The warriors need to sign pau gasol, at least look and see if he wants to leave the spurs, great shooter passer and would give a great 15 minutes per game
