AUGUST 29: The Celtics have officially signed Peak, per RealGM’s log of NBA transactions.
AUGUST 28: The Celtics and rookie swingman L.J. Peak have agreed to a partially guaranteed contract, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN tweets. The former Georgetown forward will likely be ticketed to Boston’s G-League affiliate, the Maine Red Claws, Wojnarowski adds.
Undoubtedly, Peak would have to be make a huge impression during training camp to nab a spot on Boston’s opening-night roster. Boston now has 19 players on the roster — 14 with guaranteed deals, three more with partial guarantees and a couple of two-way contracts, as Bobby Marks of ESPN.com notes (Twitter link).
The 6’5” Peak played three seasons with the Hoyas. He averaged 16.3 PPG, 3.8 RPG and 3.5 APG last season as a junior, then went undrafted as an early entrant. He played for the Rockets’ summer-league team and averaged 7.3 PPG in 13.7 MPG in four appearances while making half of his 3-point attempts.
Marks says there are 3 Exhibit contracts on the team. Who are the other two besides Peak? Can’t be Theiss or Larkin, and Bird and Allen are on two-way contracts…
Andrew White and Daniel Dixon should be the other two (they’ve been reported but not officially finalized yet).
Thought Boston had 16 player s on guaranteed contracts
They did before the Kyrie trade — should be 14 after, assuming the terms of that trade aren’t changed this week.
Can a Celts fan help me out? It says that the Suns had a 1st rnd pick they got from the Lakers in the Steve Nash deal. In what trade did the Celtics end up getting the pick which is now unprotected for 2018?
That Lakers pick was first traded to the Suns in the Nash deal in 2012, then included in the Brandon Knight/Michael Carter-Williams three-way trade in 2015 (Suns to Sixers), then sort of included in the Sixers/Celtics deal earlier this summer (for the No. 1 pick). The Sixers get it if it’s No. 1 or 6-30, Celtics get it if it’s between 2-5.
It was actually the Lakers’ 2015 pick originally but it’s been protected three years in a row, and is now unprotected.
Thank you.
This right here should prove the Kyrie trade is going to go through the C’s didn’t have a open roster spot till the trade they were maxed at the 20 allowed so it looks like all this talk is for nothing
I was thinking that too. Question is in what form and with what (potential) other parts.
Brown/smart/clippers 1st rounder/celtics 1st rounder. 1 of these my guess.
I don’t see brown, smart or the clippers pick going. It’s either two 2nds or the celts own 1st
