While Carmelo Anthony was happy to ultimately land in Oklahoma City, agent Leon Rose admitted that he and his client had been expecting a trade to Houston before the Knicks hired Scott Perry as their general manager and reset those discussions. As Frank Isola of The New York Daily News outlines, Rose and Perry were ultimately able to work things out after being at odds over the Rockets opportunity.
“Even though Scott and I battled over Houston, I have to respect the fact that he inherited an extremely difficult situation and that he had to do what was best for the organization,” Rose said. “Ultimately, he did right by Carmelo and made a deal. It all worked out for everybody.”
Here’s more on the Knicks:
- After acquiring Enes Kanter from the Thunder, the Knicks have an overabundance of options at the center position, prompting Marc Berman of The New York Post to wonder if another trade may come at some point to clear out that logjam.
- With Anthony gone, Kristaps Porzingis is now “The Man” in New York, and he expects himself to naturally evolve into a team leader, writes Berman for The New York Post. “I don’t need to force it,” Porzingis said. “First thing I’ll do is be the hardest-working guy. We have a bunch of guys who work hard. I will work hard also and give an example. From that hard work, you can be a leader and give it to your teammates.”
- Porzingis and Tim Hardaway Jr. are likely locked in as starters at power forward and shooting guard, respectively, but the other three spots in the starting lineup may be up for grabs during the preseason, as Berman details for The Post.
you know who I feel most sorry for Kyle O’quinn he needs to go where he can get playing time. Maybe he can be packaged with Lance or Lee for a 1st rounder plus.
As a Knick fan I would much rather see Kanter start alongside Porzingis because he can score around the rim and be a 3rd option for the Knicks behind Porzingis and I imagine Beasley. I would love to see this lineup
Ntilikina-Hardaway Jr-Beasley-Porzingis-Kanter
That is a pretty formidable lineup and everyone plays team basketball and scraps on defense, I could see us making the playoffs. I’d say see how things go with Beasley and if halfway we are in a hole, lets try and go for Miles Bridges in the draft. Although I am intrigued to see how Beasley does in a featured role.
Kanters defense is non existent, I rather see Will in there. he’s a scrapper, if Noah looks done during preseason and early in the season get rid of him and stretch the contract.
I like your starting 5 of Frank Knicky, THJ, KP6, Beasley, but Hernangomez not Kanter to weak D and Willie is an excellent 1on1 post defender!
starting 5 for the Tank job…Frankie, Dotson, Hardaway, Zingus and Willy….trade Lee and OQuinn ASAP…..Trade Kanter at the deadline, if not sooner…pray for Top 3 pick….Porter, Bagley or Doncic….tear it fown build it up….
Whoever they go with at PG, Hardaway, Lee, Beasley, Porzingis should be the starting 5
Initially, Kanter, Lee and Sessions, with McD leading in bench minutes, followed by WH, one of Baker/FN and one of Kuz/Beasley. Dotson will get in the rotation at some point. Still need another wing player.
