The Cavaliers have been without Derrick Rose since November 7 and may be without him for at least two more weeks, Joe Vardon of Cleveland.com writes. The club has announced that the veteran point guard’s sprained ankle will be immobilized in a boot and that he’ll undergo treatment through the end of the month.
Rose’s tenure with the Cavaliers hasn’t gotten off to as a good as start as some may have hoped after a relatively successful year with the Knicks. The 29-year-old has averaged 14.3 points per game but has only seen action in seven of the team’s 15 games this season.
The injured ankle that’s been plaguing Rose is the same one that the Cavaliers guard missed nine days due to from October 20 to October 29.
There’s more from the Central Division:
- It wasn’t long ago when Andre Drummond was the subject of trade rumors due to his inability to hit free throws and a perceived lack of effort. These days, Vincent Goodwill of Bleacher Report writes, the Pistons big man has drastically improved his stock with head coach Stan Van Gundy and around the league.
- Through 11 games with his sixth NBA team, DeAndre Liggins has impressed. The defensive specialist has made a name for himself as a gritty, energetic perimeter stopper and that’s served him well with the Bucks, Matt Velazquez of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel writes.
- Injured Cavaliers guard Isaiah Thomas stands by his decision to forego surgery on his hip, Sam Amick of USA Today writes. “Every week now, every week I’m getting better and better. I’m doing more and more. I’m getting closer to being back on the floor and being able to play, so the only thing that is the frustrating part is the time.“
Wonder if the Pacers would trade Myles Turner (Sabonis has made him expendable) and Thadeus Young for Kevin Love and work out a deal to add Jeff Green.
Why on earth would the Pacers make this trade? Makes zero sense at all, Myles Turner is an up and coming star, not some expendable piece just because Sabonis has had a decent start. Jeff Green is garbage. So the answer is no, no they would never be stupid enough to make this trade or anything near it
Why would the cavs do that trade
Do you think the Browns should trade for Andrew Luck!
Yes
Love would give the Pacers 20 points every night. Something they don’t have. The Cavs need depth up front. Turner hasn’t been the same since his concusion (neck injury) and hasn’t played a full season yet. Domantas is Sabonis son. He has potential. It would be difficult to make decision on giving Turner the max, especially with sabonis contract up first. This would allow Leaf to go back to power forward where he belongs and Green is just as good as Bogdonovich.
That’s Arvidas son, as in Pesident of basketball operations for Russia, and once Kareem Jabbars equal.
And I will take Bogdanovich over 3 Jeff Greens, this whole idea is just so awful
How many double doubles does Sabonis have and how many does Turner have. Turner plays defense, but isn’t a great rebounder.
Yeah and how many games did Turner miss? This whole idea is god awful and silly it pains me
As a Pacers fan this would be a terrible trade, Love is a good player who makes a ton of money. Turner is still 21 and up and coming. I love what Sabonis brings, this team has a good future. But trading youth and potential for an almost 30 Love, and Green who I’ve watched the past few years is nothing but pure replacement is laughable at best…
Wait, D Rose was healthy at some point? That’s more surprising than his being injured
I lived in Indy for 40 years, I’ve lived in Cleveland for 10 now. I’m still a Pacers fan. The Pacers tried to dump Thadeus Young and his $14.5 million last offseason. That and Turners ($20 million plus in 2 years plus Sabonis $10 million plus, Love has next year yet at $24 million. Green is at the minimum. He would give Bogdonavich a push as a starter.)
Love would be the closest thing the Pacers have to George and would make them more competive which is what Herb Simon wants.
Pacers: Love, Leaf-Sabonis (they’ve never lost with him starting, Jefferson-Bogdonavich, Green(better than what they have now),-Oladipo,Stevenson-Collison, Joseph
Cavs-Young, Frye- Turner, Thompson(vice versa)-LeBron, Crowder-J.R., Wade, Korver-Thomas, Shumpert (Rose is done, he can’t be counted on anymore and Cavs know it.)
Both teams would be improved.
You would make a terrible general manager. That might all sound fine and dandy on paper, when you aren’t a contender you don’t trade your young up and coming stars for an aging once was and highly paid Love, and you never ever trade for Jeff Green under any circumstances. I’ve watched him on Orlando the past two years, and he has been god awful most every night. So no, there is nothing and no chance the Pacers would ever do something this bad…Myles Turner is 21 and going to be a star, you don’t trade that as a team in a rebuild for and overpriced Love, and a Jeff Green, let alone throw Thaddeus Young in as well??? No
Salaries: Young 14.8 million, Turner 2.5 million Will be way more than that after next season, Sabonis too) Love $22.5 million
Stats: Turner 13.8 ppg 8.4 rebounds (like Roy Hibbert not stats for a max player), Sabonis 13.3 ppg 9.5 rebounds (better stats and he’s the backup)
Love 17.9 ppg 10.4 rebounds Pacers would be more competitive with Sabonis and Love, than Turner, Young, Sabonis off bench and wasting $9 million on Jefferson. This would help Cavs too. They want a rim protector. Turner makes less now, but that will go up soon!
This surely would help the Cavs reload, why would you look at one month of stats, especially when Turner hadn’t played that much, you obviously are more Cavs fan than a Pacers fan, otherwise you are delusional off of small sample size of one month…
You are wrong! I go back to when Bobby Leonard was coach and the Pacers joined the NBA. They had Bob Netolicky, Roger Brown, Mel Daniels, Freddie Lewis, and Billy Keller.
For the Cavs. I think LeBron is a bully and want to see Kyrie and the Celts in the Finals. LeBron is doing to the Cavs what George did to the Pacers.
The Cavs say they want a rim protector. The Pacers would like to trade Thadeus Young. Kevin Love would be the Pacers best player. For the small sample size, Myles Turner hasn’t proven himself yet. Right now Sabonis is playing as well as him. I remember when his dad was the best player in the world. He played great when Turner was out. I’d like to see the Pacers give him a chance. Right now I’d take Love over Turner and so would 29 other teams.
You are guessing Turner will be good. We know Love is.
That’s when the Pacers joined the ABA. Bobby Leonard had to do a telethon on channel 4 when they joined the NBA to keep them from going bankrupt.
Sabonis Sr was amazing. It’s a shame he could not get to the NBA sooner.
Pritchard said he was reluctant to trade in-division.
Jeff Green is having a fine year; maybe he relaxes better and achieves his potential better with less pressure.
Turner is a riser but he needs to come back and get on course before I would trade for him, indeed I would be suspicious if Indiana made him available right now. But I would rate him over Love generally.
He’s cheap now but there is an Embiid-like FO decision coming up!
I don’t think Turner is as good as he was with Paul George, plus now he’s sharing time with Sabonis. Jefferson can’t be traded and is making $9 million. With the trade, he’d be playing. Love is a good passer. He’d be putting up similar numbers to George. I don’t think the Cavs would think this is enough.
Pritchard not trading in division is why this trade won’t get done. The Cavs owner is mad as heck at him.
Green just canned his agent. LeBron suckered him into coming to Cavs. Now look what Simmons is doing in Orlando.
Did you know Turner has been averaging 10 ppg and 7 rebounds since he came back. He’s getting double teams since George isn’t there and with Sabonis, I wouldn’t expect Turner to get the same stats he had last year. I think Sabonis is more physical than Turner (he played power forward at Texas). This is Turners 3rd year, so the Pacers can begin offering an extension after next season. If he gets $25 million plus and Sabonis is offered $13 million,
if I’m Sabonis I say see ya later.
I read Philly is a darkhorse to get LeBron. I wonder if the Ball family is making LeBron reconsider Los Angeles. I don’t think anybody else can offer him $30 million. I don’t think anybody but Cleveland will give him the decision making he has. If he leaves, I see Love leaving a year behind him. Trust me the Pacers would have more wins with Love than Turner. They need veteran leadership. I think the Cavs would nix the trade because of Young. He scores 18 one game, 5 the next.
If Turner wants $25 million after next season, he’d better get his stats way up.
I feel sorry for the Pacers. Paul George wanted help. He’s getting $17 million a year. LeBron gets $30 million and the Cavs are paying $45 million in the luxury tax. The Pacers owner refuses to go over the soft cap. I’d hope the Cavs are making it to the Finals. I Love watching Kyrie now, they are fun to watch.
“I read Philly is a darkhorse to get LeBron”
If you’re quoting my posts, be careful! Although my posts are as good as any for figuring out that guy.
Lebron as an LA guy, really? He’s an Eastern guy. He’s already done a glamour move. IDK how much more endorsement money he would make.
Given Sabonis, I can’t argue the Pacers would win more with Love than with Turner, at least in the short run. But migraines shutting him down is not a good sign.
cavs continue their incompetence they didn’t know D rose couldn’t be counted on? they should have gone after bledsoe
Looking like it. Rose was trying too hard, not being cautious enough. He was signed as a backup!
I’m a Bulls fan, and I still like D-Rose, but the guy just needs to hang it up.
What you guys are seeing in Cleveland is the same thing we were tortured with for almost 5 years in Chicago.
He’s good for 7 games, out for 14. Now he’s back for 7 games. Oh, there he goes….out for 15 games. Now he’s back for 3 games. Ahhhh, and out he goes…done for the season. Lather, rinse, repeat.
I feel bad for the guy, but he’s made of glass and will never be healthy enough to play a full season — or anywhere even remotely close to it.
Lol at all the people feeding the troll
