Kristaps Porzingis, Victor Oladipo, Bradley Beal, and Karl-Anthony Towns will join Joel Embiid (voted in as a starter) as first time All-Stars after the league announced its reserves for the 2018 contest (via NBA.com).
In addition to Towns, Russell Westbrook, LaMarcus Aldridge, Jimmy Butler, Draymond Green, Damian Lillard, and Klay Thompson got in as reserves in the Western Conference.
In the Eastern Conference, John Wall, Kyle Lowry, Al Horford, and Kevin Love join Porzingis, Beal and Oladipo as reserves.
The league previously announced that the format for this year’s contest will differ from how its been in the past. The two players with the most tallies from the All-Star starter vote will be named as captains and they will draft a team from the remaining starters and reserves. LeBron James and Stephen Curry earned the honors of being names captains this season.
Giannis Antetokounmpo, DeMar DeRozan, Kyrie Irving, and Embiid were named starters alongside James in the East. Anthony Davis, DeMarcus Cousins, Kevin Durant, and James Harden were selected along with Curry to be the Western Conference All-Stars.
The West has several notable players who didn’t receive an invite, including Paul George, Chris Paul, and Lou Williams, while the East also had a few snubs, such as Andre Drummond and Ben Simmons.
Do you agree with this year’s All-Star selections? Would you have liked to see another player in the game? If so, who are you leaving out? Please let us know your thoughts in the comment section below. We look forward to what you have to say!
Horford shouldn’t have made it. Simmons, Kemba, Dwight, Tatum, Aaron Gordon
Lol Dwight and Tatum don’t deserve it
Horford is averaging 13-8-6 those are nowhere near all star numbers.
Simmons probably makes it if he qualified as a front court player. But Dwight and Tatum don’t deserve it more than Horford.
You obviously haven’t watched the Celtics play this year
LaMarcus Aldridge not really and Love and Horford are questionable but it’s solid altogether
Aldridge has a better case than Horford (who mainly got in because of a weak frontcourt pool in the East). Between Aldridge and George, you’re splitting hairs so that could’ve gone either way. Love I agree shouldn’t have gotten in. Drummond probably deserves it more.
Was hoping Dame would get snubbed again, just for a laugh!
Simmons in for love, he’s sick…or something
Dragic
yeah he should have made it idk how some of these teams have two & some don’t have any smh
I’d take Drummond over Love…
Ron Baker is missing from the list…no love.
Zaza snubbed again
Splitting hairs with George, Aldridge, and Draymond Green there for a spot. Honestly you could go either way with those three as they’re all deserving. CP3 probably gets in if he wasn’t injured and Lou Williams gets squeezed out by a guard-heavy group. Westbrook and Lillard have been better than Lou, I think Butler was classified as a backcourt player so in that case he didn’t deserve it over him either. Again, splitting hairs between Klay and Lou since they bring the same offensive game with Klay probably getting a slight edge for his defense.
Horford was a surprise pick as I thought Drummond deserved it. Simmons probably gets in if he was a frontcourt player, but since he predominantly plays PG he’s a backcourt player and gets squeezed out by another guard-heavy group (although I do kind of question Beal’s selection).
VO in…PG not in! Love it! Mr. Cavs Dilbert….we got an all-star…you got IT who ain’t going to stay for your dumpster fire. Drummond should be in…he is a beast. LBJ probably pissed that Love made it. He is the Cavs whipping boy…would be traded but he is over paid.
Would it be completely unreasonable for the rosters to expand to 15 players? If the whole team played the same amount of minutes, that’s 16 minutes game time for everyone vs 20 Mins average now.
